Why would you install the cable in such a manner that they can easily be cut? Never run cables on the outside of the home! You should use a tape and run them through walls.
Random Thoughts No shit! He doesn’t have a clue on what he’s doing. Not only does the wad of exposed wires look like shit, but the exposed can be cut and so can their whole entire camera system. Also. I think he did it so sloppy is bc, he’s just freaking LAZY!!
I love how on both the TV and laptop screens, there is just a a green screen with a superimposed picture of security cameras... You can literally see that the keyboard on the laptop is all green from the reflection...
Great video but camera wires that are that accessible and nailed to the outside of a wall are not secure. One cut of that wire or ripping the wire off of the wall by someone and that camera is out. You are much better off going through the attic near the camera installation area to keep the camera wire exposure to a minimum. We only install cameras that hide the wire through the mounting bracket so there is NO wire exposure.
Thanks for the video but if you are putting up the security system then you are concerned with burglars and other criminals so won't they just cut the wires that you have running on the outside of the home? Would it make more sense to have the wires run up thru the attic so they can't cut the wires so easily? With cameras low enough they can just break them so they must be high I would think. What do you think?
gretscher I am trying to decide what type of system to use. In the past, thugs have stolen my security lights. It could happen, that they will vandalize or steal my cameras too. They have a lot of motivation for whatever perverted reason. Nevertheless the threat is real. They will find any weakness. Every possibility must be considered. So 10 cameras, 2 at each corner so any vandals will be recorded. Eventually, 2 more hidden strong cameras closer to the road to surveil and capture license plates. IP cameras to get the time stamp. Vehicle and trailer alarms with text messaging alerts.
I don't agree with exposing the cable like this @1:30 , a thief can easily cut the wire. Best practice is to hide wire or keep up high away from reach. But good video tho. :)
Nice install but i have to say them motion beepers are no better than fucking useless on any dvr it almost doesn't take any movement for them to go off.
I may be doing this soon for a living and my last thought was. What a waste of a perfectly good old school cell phone. And they need marriage counseling.
I've been installing CCTV for 10 years, this video is a joke. Swann is cheap and nasty. No HDD smarts. IR LEDs burn out. Contrast blows out in 2-3 years. I would never leave exposed cable, and the pre-made leads leave little room for HD upgrade later with HD-SDI, AHD or TVI protocols. To honest SD a waste of time, I expected this video to be 5 years old but it was uploaded a year ago, well after HD systems became affordable.
So what's the best CCTV on the market to get right now? I just bought a house and I'm looking to install some cameras. Your experience would be of great help Josh Bohan.
