At about 1:12, you'll see he forgot to insert the spacer piece on the overflow tube & he forgot to use & tighten the zip tie!!! It's virtually certain, the rubber seal isn't going to stay seated right.
This system is a must for the old Mansfield 3.5 gallons per flush toilets like I have. Helps you get into the modern age. And for nearly the cost of competitors total rebuild kits. You've just totally rebuilt your toilet AND are using half the water, most of the time.
I am considering buying this but after watching a few videos it appear a person has to have that flapper option for it to work Can I somehow still use it? Does it have options for those who don’t have the flapper in their toilet ?
Having a flapper is not the issue as long a you have a 2 inch opening in the toilet tank drain it should work. And even if you have the old style float fill valve that is OK since you are changing the fill valve also. They may have installed some other type of device that works like a flapper, but the most important part is how big the toilet tank drain is.
Some people are complaining about the zip tie deteriorating over time, and thus causing a malfunction and wasting lots of water. I wonder why a plastic zip tie can deteriorate within just 6 months as someone claims at the home depot web site. Anyone knows or is aware of this issue?
I have tried for years to get this system to work properly. Yep, the zip ties go probably because I use a chlorine cleaning system. Otherwise, the flapper in the unit goes bad, and I just dumped it and went back to the old basic flush flapper system. The new ones have a simple adjustment for water savings. So, no need this system any more.
Stop using chlorine cleaners in the tank. Chlorine eats the rubber which causes leaks. If you are trying to be a clean freak, clean means NO SMELLS of any kind. If something is there, and it smells, good or bad, it is now CONTAMINATED. Now you have a dirty toilet. You don't see anyone in a hospital running around spraying scented freshener and dumping perfume in the toilets now do you? All you are doing is wasting money on the chlorine tablets and causing your toilet to leak.
Or look at it like this. I can take a huge Thanksgiving dinner dump, in YOUR toilet. I mean a real steamer. Spray the bowl with Chanel number 5. And YOU would think it's clean. LOL LOL LOL LOL
