How to install arched fireplace door

I bought that exact kind of Fireplace doors but the fireplace is 1/2 smaller. The contractor is going to shave down the brick a little bit so it can fit. Do you have any other tips to try to get it to fit? I got the small doors but the fireplace was built in 1950 and a touch too small. Thank you in advance :)

So there is no seal between the brick and the new glass unit? Doesnt that defeat the purpose of a glass fireplace insert if there is still drafts allowed past the doors... smh.

While no fireplace doors are truly airtight, you could look into purchasing gasketed masonry doors. Gasketed doors tend to prevent drafting and air loss, however they are also much more expensive. Feel free to give us a call at 800-897-7175 with more questions!

BrickAnew i did research and they sell a product called ceramic wool. It is the best material to use for gaskets as well as wall to glass fitments. You should sell it.

The overlap-fit doors that I received from Stoll Industries included insulation to cut and fit into the top and both sides of the enclosure frame. Insulation is high density and has a fabric face that appears to be for contact with higher temperature. I also ordered my masonry fireplace enclosure with AirSeal Doors. Stoll offers the AirSeal option for $150 which I don't consider to be "much more expensive" on a custom set of doors.
