Thank you for this video!!! Just did this to my 2021 trek today and am stoked with how it turned out!

I was able to keep the factory front plastic skid on the car. I just drilled out the 4 spots where the standoffs are located so they would slide thru the factory plate. I wanted to keep the factory plate mainly for dirt and water mitigation into the engine bay from below.

I have had Primitive racing full skids(three pieces) on every Subaru I have owned. Have a 2016 Forester and a 2021 Crosstrek Sport now. Slide save you from a lot of trouble, both on and off-road. The fomoto valve is essential for skid on oil changes. Especially if you bang your skids up a little. You play hell getting them back on. Learned that with the TOYOTA FJ Cruiser I had…… OH! You MAY want to consider using the tube on the valve. It tucks up into the oil drain hole and comes out when draining the oil. Nice and clean job. Just zip tie it to the valve, it will stay put. Don’t understand the coolant draining to mount the front skid….🤷🏼‍♂️ And also I trimmed the old plastic skid and used the sides to cover the sides of the engine, just tucked a 3/4” sections under the skid on either side….

Cody, I enjoyed watching the installation of the skid plates on the Subaru. I intend to use the same skid plate brand on my 2021 CrossTrek limited. However, I was a bit puzzled when you installed the differential skid plate. As I recall you removed one bolt completely and loosened three others before installing a bracket on the outside of the differential housing. My understanding of the differential housing is that it is filled with high viscosity oil to keep the gears inside lubricated. When you removed/loosened the bolts I didn't see any differential oil pouring out. Does this mean you drained the differential oil before loosening the bolts and just didn't cover it in the video? Just curious, thanks.
