Definitely a great upgrade!. Feel more throttle response and more on mid-high gain! Looks great as well. Any suggestion for an intake? Whale penis or cold air intake. Hit Tristan for any question or a hand fitting things out.
Have a question for anyone that can help me a little bit more on here..So I have the original 89 Honda civic dx 1.5 L engine would I have to run anything else to connect this intake manifold to the original engine.?
I have followed this as close as i can with all the same parts and for some reason my civic idles really rough and the rpm maxes out at around 3k rpm and it sounds likes its bouncing off limiter. Any help would be great.
@@TURBOTRISTO i have plugged all unused pipe lines like u in the video and made a plate to cover the d16y8 iacv location like urs. Are there any other places I need to block?
I have a d16y8 if I buy this manifold along with the throttle body will it run rough/bad without a proper tune ? Or will it run fine without getting it tuned
hello, i also have an inlet of skunk2 for a d15b7 and bigger throttle body . I was told that he must definitely need and tune after this is correct? Because you just advance the timimg? Thanks
I personally believe that on a dseries engine that is not turbo and only has air intake and exhaust the car will run fine and not need a tune, YES 100% if you tune it you will see an increase in power if you tune it! But other wise they don’t really do anything, on a twin cam Vtec car yes I would agree that you must tune your car after installing an intake like this because they are fine tuned and rev high over 8000rpm the air fuel mixtures change a lot in vtec cars
@@TURBOTRISTO ok. I have another question. Is it required to adjust timing or can I leave it the way it is after the install? also is turning required?
You didn’t have any idle issues with running the stock throttle body? And I’m assuming you just got the block off plate for the idle air control valve ? Bec it’s dif on the skunk 2 manifold then it was my oem.

yeah you can if you want the crank case ventilation to work like stock otherwise you can run that to a catch can and block the port on the manifold so you can keep the inlet clean
hi i saw your video and its cool i have a problem in my car i am from pakistan i have honda civic 1996 model vti pakistan made but the engine is swapped with d15b single v tec manual transmission head code p2j-2 year 97 p2k intake manifold and the ecu is p6f p01 problem is the poor pickup on the lower rpm from 1 to 3k and the fuel mileage is very poor with blacksmoke from exhaust i spend alot of money already but my problem is still there if you have any suggestion or advice then kindly tell me
ofc i got the throttle body that goes on the manifold which causes me a shit ton of problems. not to mention the coolant lines that go into the bottom of the manifold from the throttle body. i think im just going to go to a shop cause theyll have more of an idea on what to do than i ever will
I bought a throttle body for my d16y7, who sold it sent me one with the different iac valve like a d16y8, and he told me that with the admission of skun 2 I have to adapt the iac, I see that you have no detail in adapting the iac will be that the acceleration body is different since my iac sensor cable has three pins and the one on the body that I buy only has the sensor for two-pin iac
Hey I know it’s years later but check this out, I have a d16y8 and upgraded the intake and throttle body to what appears to be the skunk2 but doesn’t have the symbols anyways same exact set up you got here but when I start the car it goes straight to 6-8k rpm’s right before redline so I shut it off of course I have like no power to my tps wires I multimetered them and only readings I get is on DC volts 200ms and it only shows 5.3-9.1 Molly bolts so basically no power right?
I’ve reran a few wires for the power and ground lines back to ecu new wires just jumping just incase old factory wires got messed up and stuff but still no readings on just regular DC volts 20 that should read at idle 0.50 to open throttle as far as possible 4.45-4.60 volts but I get nothing like I said before I only see millyvolts
If it’s got no volts that’s one thing but it should either stall or idle just on mechanical vacuum if it revs out to 6k there is a major vacuum leak find that first
@@TURBOTRISTO yessir I’ll start spraying so if I were to start it which I need to unless I can take a shopvac and some how tape it to the intake and draw air and spray something around the areas?
G'day Brady, the previous owner must have already taken it off before but normally yes you are correct, I will be fitting another one of these to a d series soon I will be sure to show it then
Got a skunk2 im for my y7 wondering how am i able to hook up the iacv on the back of the im. The y7 iacv isn’t compatible on the skunk2 wonder wat iacv should i use
there should be provisions for it on the manifold, I have found with all the skunk manifold's and all the copies they have a spot for all the variations of the d series , you just need to work out which ones you need and which ones to block off, its surprisingly easy
@@TURBOTRISTO i got questions because im confused.. did you still plug your evap solenoid in intake? Cuz i see that you cap it?? Are you running obd1 ecu? Did u just delete it?
im still not sure what you are asking, the skunk 2 manifold has allthe ports you need use your old intake and use all the same parts to conect in the same spot on the new on, any spare holes should be blocked off, i had to make some block offs
Aye @TurboTristan !! I need to know what wheel fitment you used on your silver EK my friend . Been meaning to ask on the new maxpeeding install but keep gettin slammed with work . I have 16s on currently that are in desperate need of powder coat , but my 17s for the accord have been freshly done gloss black . We have the same silver EK , well mines an EJ because well America and stuff but almost same lol .
@@TURBOTRISTO right on , we’ll are they 17s and what tire size did you run ? We can start with that lol . And thanks man I know I aggravate the piss out of ya lol .
@@TURBOTRISTO broooo thank you so much !!! I’ve been painstakingly hunting a 35 series because I was scared with it being so low it would rub but your grey wheels seem to fit perfect on your EK . Jus saved me a lot of time man I really appreciate it 🤘🏻!
@@TURBOTRISTO ahhh miss heard on the episode, thought you said, when turning steering wheel. If you're sure it's gear box I'd say, box out and start at the Thrust bearing.
@@qualitytouch well all the ones for B & D series are quite cheap I am using a hybrid racing shifter in my kswap and I love the feel and quality , but i guess its my fault for buying the ebay $20 and $50 short shift kits for my d series
I’m planning on rebuilding a Y8 and I was thinking of getting a skunk 2 intake manifold but would it be worth it if it’s not boosted? Also would I need to get a new fuel rail and bigger injectors?
G'day Captin, you can certainly add the skunk2 manifold it will make the car slower low in the revs, but more powerful hi in the rpm, no you wont need to change the fuel rail or injectors, not unless you are turbo'ng the car
Not really to be honest, you can buy a nitrous kit for half the price of a skunk2 intake that will guarantee you more power , or a turbo kit for about double the skunk2 intake
yeah man I did that in my own EK, just ripped it all out very easy to do very illegal in australia, can make the car a little fumey but I havent noticed it in my car
