Decided to upgrade the sound system on my brothers 2019 Kia Optima. This video will show you how to specifically install and wire up all the necessary parts for an aftermarket Subwoofer and Amplifier install.

In case you were wondering, I just found the best way to hook up your power wire. I also have a 2019. Open the fuse box and see on the cover that it has a long channel that covers the main power cable, right next to the cable is...... A spot to install another power cable!?!?

Couldn't you have just tapped the rear speaker wires in the back and ran a remote to 12v fuse?? Just curious, bc thinking about my install

You DO NOT have to run Power wire through fender or drill another hole through firewall. I just installed my sons 4g power wire through an existing grommet with oem wireharness. Its easy to see from inside the car just up and to the left of the brake pedal. Poke a wire coat hanger (carefull not to rip oem wire) through and you can see through engine bay under the Master brake cylinder. Tape the power wire to the coat hanger and pull through!

Next time, instead of removing the rubber door grommet, do what i did and make a hole with a drill and pass the power wire through it. I also put heatshrink on it to blend in better and protect the wire from possibly chafing at the penetration point.

Instead of going behind the dash ....take some speaker wire and tie right into the side panel between front and back door and run your hi..lo.. adapter up in the trunk in cubbie hole .... shorter remote wire and just take your pos and negotiate from hi lo ... and run it straight to the pos and neg on the amp... whole lot easier then having to go behind dash

Love the video...I'm doing a 2017 Optima right now. Cannot find any wiring diagrams. Which one on the factory harness is the remote wire? What about the left and right rear speaker wires? TIA

My optima did not have a factory amplifier, so there is no factory remote wire. I know the SX model has an Amp under the seat that has a remote wire you can tap into. I used a in-line fuse tap and plugged my remote wire into the cigarette fuse. That way it only turns on when the key is on.

Probably a little late for this comment but I recently bought a 2020 Kia Optima. Behind the break pedal there is a black rubber sealer that has a hand full of wires. If you push the power wire from inside the car it goes directly to engine bay.

Wiring diagram?? that was needed since KIa makes like 6-8 different models of the optima.

Which battery terminal did you add the amp to? It's weird how kia has the amp fuse on the battery, I have a 17 forte and it looks like there is a terminal for aftermarket electronics but I don't wanna make a mistake and blow the fuse

The Amp had the Hot wire going directly to the Positive battery terminal. just remove the negative cable from the battery when you do your connections and then lastly you put the negatively back on.

Im sure you could, as long as you're tapping into the same wires in the circuit you'll be fine, you're on the same node throughout.

Holy crap this looks so tedious and I wish I could do it myself. Is there a significant difference between the factory amp and the new one you got? Can I ask what it was? (Bass? treble?) also where do u guys live (damn so far away!!! Just got to the bloopers) wish I could pay you to install for my car 😂😂

For this model, Optima LX, the radio used the built-in amplifier to power 6 speakers (4x door speakers & 2 tweeters on the dash). Both the Amp and Subwoofer were aftermarket. It was a huge difference! Here we are 4 months later and I still love it! Oh yeah, we live in AZ 🌵

No you don’t, look up a diagram of your radio wires for that specific vehicle and see if it has one that says “remote amp” and plug the amp into there

We just use lil plastic pry bars you can get from harbor freight. Also I have some leftover ones from my vinyl kits I buy.

If I remember correctly , we connected it to the grounding bolt up under the driver side on the left panel of the vehicle. (to the left of the dead pedal)

Honestly DIY will always be the cheapest. The way I think it is, those Installers at businesses all had to learn to do what they do. I'm confident that between my video and probably many others similar, you'll be able to install it yourself!👌 and you'll learn a new skill during the process. Just take your time and check and recheck your work and I reassure you, you'll get 'er done right 👌

it's all good but the thing U could have done better is the rubber plugs... Instead of cutting a notch, it would've been better drilling a hole in them and feeding wire through... Been there, done that and it works awesome. Other than that, nice install.

thats what i was thinking as well, when you take off that one thing that he said in the beginning of the video that was "flemzzy", you would most likely run that RCA wire thru there carefully. Maybe some zip ties and put that flemzzy peice back on when your done

The optima doesnt have speakers in the rear deck only the front and rear doors and the dash.

There should be a rear stock sub to tap into. Right above inside the trunk. Simple work instead of taking apart the dash. Even though that seem easier on this newer model compared to the 2011-2014 models, man you have to take off the whole left side dash to get the radio lol.

You did not explain where the 2 screws are on the 2nd step. It looks to be hiding behind a panel in the glovebox. Still unsure hot to access

But good job on the install you guys know what your doing why i am puzzled by your amplifier your using that thing invites noise and overheating , Be amazed what your sytem would sound like with a upgrade amp could get a Rockford prime series amp if on budget make a world of a difference

You don't have to take off all of that if you are going to use the L.O.C. Just run your amp wiring all the way to the trunk get the speaker wire that is hooked up to the factory speaker in the trunk hook up the L.O.C. to that out put speaker and your done with that. Next red wire power , black wire ground, then blue wire to the fuse box . Fuse radio blue so your amp turns on .. then you are good to go.... Next install a PS5 .... LoL 😈

@@darrylpolite8722 check the trunk if you have speakers, if you do, it has a black plastic hookup on it. That black plastic hookup has some wires on it like before the black plastic. Those wires are the ones you tap in to for the L.O.C.

They're only in the dash, the front doors and rear doors. Since it's my wife's car, she's not big on bone shaking bass but she loves the sound. I'm looking into doing things on a 2020 Kia Optima FE. I was thinking instead of me doing all of the work up front to the dash that it would probably be easier to follow the speaker wire from the rear doors to splice into. If there's no other locations that makes it easier.

@@darrylpolite8722did you run a loc for your optima? I just installed mine and it was a pain in the ass. Couldn’t figure out which wires in the b pillar were to the speaker so I just ran it from the speaker in the doors and ran the wire through the rubber piece connecting the door to the car.

@@xchimnyx question I was trying to put my door speakers on an amplifier I have the lc7 but when I cut the wires and hooked up the new speakers the speaker never cut off which was super weird because it was no power going to it but the wire is this going to the front speakers was green and orange but the speakers never cut off when I cut the wire would that be something you can give me more information on?
