Thanks for the video. Because you made it look so easy, I followed your links and purchased the USB port and the fuse tap. Received both items the next day from Amazon. Following your video, it literally took me about 20 minutes to complete the total install. Couldn't be happier with the results. Other videos showed having to removed the dash, glove box, consoles, floor panels, etc., all which would have taken many hours to complete. Again, thanks for posting your easy-install video. Keep 'em coming!!!

I've read that the Tacoma dash is a bear to remove, so I'm glad this helped! Did you install in the same spot as I did?

@@LiL13izzy7 I installed it exactly as you did. Worked great. Had to laugh after watching some of the other videos showing you how to dismantle the dash and console to do what I did in 20 minutes. So glad I caught your video before I went in any of the other directions. Thanks again for posting your video. If you have any more improvements to a (2010) 2nd Gen Tacoma, I'd be happy to see them. Always looking to improve my truck. Only have 70K on her so hoping to keep her around for another 10 years or so.

@@pbranch1277 this is my sister's truck so I haven't done anything else to it. I did consider adding a wireless charger for it. There's an aftermarket kit that looks OEM, that's made for this generation of Tacoma.

I followed this direction, but purchased the size that fits down in the center console. It has a USB-C, a 3.0, and a digital readout (no switch). It's a really tight fit, but ran the wires similarly. This thing looks factory where it is (one of my two blanks). "USB C Car Charger Socket Toyota Switch Replacement, Dual PD and QC3.0 12V/24V Panel Mount USB Outlet with LED Voltmeter for Car Truck Bus Off-Road Vehicles RV, etc. - Green LED Display" Bonus...the person named their store Stark Industries lol. Thanks for the vid, big upgrade over the old plugin adapter

Since I don't have a third gen, I'm not exactly sure, but you will know as soon as you open up your fuse box and see what kind of fuse is in there. Here is another video that I made that explains some of the different fuses. Hope this helps. This one is easy to follow too: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5XObhMQ0wCo.html

What would you have to add if you want to put more than 1 USB port? Say you’re adding 2 USB port total. How would you add that to your fuse box?
@LiL13izzy7
@LiL13izzy7 2 года назад
You can find another fuse to tap into, using the same method

@@LiL13izzy7 anyone? Because it seems like everyone seems to like to tap into the Accessories first.
@LiL13izzy7
@LiL13izzy7 2 года назад
@@jimmycha12345 I wouldn't pick any one. You can tap into accessories, but you would have to splice wires. It's better to add a circuit. Consult your fuse diagram. For instance, I wouldn't add a circuit into a 20 amp circuit because that would be overkill for a USB charger.

How do you wire the USB port up so it will stay on when the truck is off????
@LiL13izzy7
@LiL13izzy7 2 года назад
You just plug it into circuit that is "always hot (meaning always on). If you do this, at least buy a USB port with an on/off switch, or include an on/off switch in the circuit so that you don't drain your battery. I did a few like this in my FJ as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eYHn1gdsMmU.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dLhJIaOdO3I.html Here's a video I made that will explain the aftermarket on/off switches I used: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8ftolyaHp20.html Good luck!

Do you have to turn off the USB port when the vehicle is off?
@LiL13izzy7
@LiL13izzy7 Год назад
No, because I wired it to a circuit that is not always on (only when the car is on)

You could’ve just removed the cigarette lighter and no drilling needed

Nah, still want that for other 12v accessories that use that input, like my air compressor, and many more.
