9 years later and I'm still using your vids for assistance. Thank you, Bryan.

Bryan, I'm a new FJR owner (2019 model) and I just can't tell you how informative all your videos are... This was one was particularly helpful tonight as I installed the same windshield. BTW, the 2019 model has plastic screws under the plates instead of the 4mm hex keys. You provide fantastic value and information!

Your knowledge and rhetoric without the use of uh, is a nice change from most of the RU-vid videos. I had already purchased my windscreen from BikeBandit before seeing your video, thanks for sharing tips and expertise. Love the FJ's, I am 6'6" and have owned a 1987, 1992 FJ1200 and now a 2007 FJR1300.

very nice video. I just replaced the windscreen on my 2016 FJR 1300ES with a National Cycle windshield. FYI, the screws to remove the window trim is a 4mm hex and the screws to remove the windshield are philips head. video is very helpful. new screen is really nice and much better than OEM regarding noise and buffeting.

I just bought a 2014 FJR a few days ago. I have found these videos to be very helpful and a compliment to the owner's manual. Thanks much !!

Keep the videos up mate. I've been riding for years but have absolutely ZERO mechanical knowledge. Your videos have been a great help over the last 6 months. Latest one for me was a screen change!

Thank you again for your videos! Not sure I would ever have found those first screws holding the windscreen covers in place.

5:45. The comparison to the stock winshield is great information!! I have already ordered a Yamaha touring windshield. This would have been extremely helpful had I been able search and find this content prior to spending 2hrs figuring out the differences between Yamaha Touring vs VStream N20308 shields!! Thanks for all the awesome content !!

Great instruction as usual. Makes owning one of these bikes much more enjoyable when there's quality support available. Thanks for posting.

This is the screen that is fitted to the Police models. I am 6' 3" (191cm) and tend to ride with the screen low to keep airflow. If it is raining I put the screen up to 1" short of the highest point and it blows the rain off my visor.

Thanks so much Bryan. I had a screw fall out on my 2015 (holds the "inside" trim piece to the back of the shield --- and wanted to see how the "outside" trim pieces would be removed) ... and was also thinking about getting a larger screen anyway. Your video just killed two birds with one stone. Well done!

Thanks for the excellent video. I just installed a National Cycle VStream on my 2013 FJR and am looking forward to the road test. It required a 3mm hex key for the trim and a Phillips screwdriver for the six screws. I had trouble with the first trim piece until I realized a had the screen in the high position. Once I lowered it, no problem. There was a safety sticker that I peeled off (telling me not to do stupid things) which left adhesive mess, so I'll get National Cycle's advice on best way to remove. Cheers!

Hey Bryan, Great video, again. I just ordered one for my 17. Looking fwd trying it soon. Great advise. I think it will help with noise reduction on the comm as well. I am also going to install a Gel on both seats. I have a local guy who does it for awhile now. For $170 done deal, it is a good deal. Safe ride, boss.

Thanks for the video! Nice explanation and good work! Just wanted to get the old original windshield on (since my 2014 came with the tall one on) and couldn´t find an explanation in the manual.

update...Cee Bailey is out of business. I wanted to make a comment for those people who might want to upgrade to a Yamaha Touring windshield with a Gen II. It turns out that this windshield, which I bought is in no way like the one you bought for your Gen III. It is of a horrible quality and the holes were not drilled in the correct location. It also was impossible to put on the cover trim panel because of the poor hole drilling. And I lost money returning it due to a restocking fee (see below, dumb company), which seemed very unreasonable considering Yamaha provided a defective OEM product. After going thru a bunch of other windshields I landed on the California Scientific one. Very high quality in all regards. It also has a small slot in it to reduce backdraft which is not problematic, even in the rain! I also learned that unless you get a windshield tall enough to be at your eye level and above you won't get real good quiet. So make your measurements carefully. Following really enjoying the Cal Sci windshield I had the misfortune of the bike falling down while on the kickstand with the motor idling. Was a crazy thing. I called California Scientific and told them what happened and they sold me a new windshield at a significant discount. An excellent company. Can't say enough good things about them and their products.

I found the windshield at amazon bandit didn't have it. I took a short ride I noticed the shield vibrated quite a bit. Also the covers have a side to side movement just enough to bother me. I thought maybe I didn't push them down enough but I took them off and put them back on still moving any idea?

I don't know why it's not working as well for me. I'm 6'0" with a 31" inseam, and with the screen all the way up, it really buffets the top of my helmet. maybe I sit too upright?

I'm planning on buying the 2016 FJR model this year. Does Yamaha sell factory passenger backrests for the FJR? The saddle bags look like they have enough storage for weekend trips and that trunk is huge and ugly. I'll be watching your excellent vids to take care of the basic maintenance on mine. Hopefully you got everything back in order after that unfortunate U-Turn tumble that you had this year. I have a 2012 V-Rod Muscle with a long wheelbase and U-Turns are pain. If I don't have a lot of room to maneuver, then I'll just do the old 3-point turn instead. Those drops onto pavement do a lot of damage.

Only third party back rests

Instead of just a backrest , I added a Givi panier that came with a little pad for the passenger to lean back on. It was well worth the money !

I find it strange that my windshield is held with 6 plastic phillips head screws and not allen head, as well as side panel above battery is allen head and yours are phillips. Same year and same bike.

Hi mate i have a FJR 2010 model. im 183cm tall. which shield would you recommend? currently my stock standard screen is just hitting me straight in the forehead. i have seen some from www.ceebaileys.com/yamaha/fjr1300_flip_06_ws.html and Bike Bandit.
@TwoWheelObsession
@TwoWheelObsession 10 лет назад
kaixing25 It's such a personal decision based on your exact size that you might need to test a few to get a great result. I simply got lucky that the first I tried worked for me. On my '06 the stock worked great for me though, I never needed anything else so I can't even suggest what to try first on yours. My Gen III is different.
