In Texas, the vinyl style started to lose the mesh after two years. Adhesive broke down in the heat and started to blow in the wind. It looked like silk threads and very tacky. They are easy to install but do not buy the vinyl ones for a hot climate. In the process of removing all of them and installing the Amerimax Hoover Dam version which are metal and easy to install. These are running me about $5.00 per 3 ft section ($1.63 per linear ft) but I think they will be well worth it. Soaked my roof with garden hose on full blast as a test case and had no runoff.😀

For gutter protection to function properly, the gutter guard MUST stay at the same angle as the roof. You see how when you put those on (1:30) that you got that little curve at the front. Mine did that too and with-in a year, the pine straw built up and they collapsed into the gutter. But I didn't want to buy the expensive all aluminum ones, so I was able to modify your filter gutter guards very easily at no cost so the gutter guard remained at the same angle as the roof. Now the pine straw just blows off. Hint: I used pieces of coat hanger in four places plus HVAC tape. Or you can just go to Costco and buy their all aluminum gutter filters for about $10 a foot.

@@Bill_of_Rights still up. I covered more gutter last year. Used aluminum ties (like for fencing) to stiffen the plastic screened gutter guard. Plastic last forever. And aluminum won't rust.

@@Bill_of_Rights You' re welcome. I hate a good idea to go to waste. I find I can get by with four fence ties per 3 foot section of gutter. One on each end and two equally spaced away from the ends. If you use too many fence ties, the gutter guard becomes too stiff and hard to install.

Wish I had watched this first, but no big issue. Had to trim about a half inch to fit under my shingles. Only bought 4 just to see how they worked. I will overlap the rest but I'm not going back to the others lol

Glad I found this vid. I bought the "pro pak" at HD and there were no instructions at all, just a bad picture on the box. Also, we have hail resistant, imitation shake shingles and there's no way you will slide these guards up between the plys as shown in the vid. I was able to lift all the layers up and slide the guards under so the back edge rests on the back of the gutter. Actually, a more secure fit than the method shown. Always a catch with these "easy to install" products, no?

I’m not sure why Lowe’s doesn’t have this video in their description. The reviews sound like A LOT of people installed them wrong. But there’s not much description about them and when I bought them from Lowe’s, all they had was a barcode sticker. 🤦‍♀️

I'm changing color schemes. Can the white Gutter guards be painted or stained? If so what type of paint/stain do you recommend?

These will not snap into my gutters. My gutter tops flange.have a downward bend that's goes too far down. Tried many time to figure out how to snap in but impossible for me. I have to cut off the entire bottom strip on all the guards in order to get it to lay in top of the gutter as it wont snap in.

Will it snap securely to fascia style gutters? Your brochures simply don't mention this type of gutter and they are very common in the NW where I live. I have a neighbor who uses these and he has had them ten years and they work well. And we have conifers like fir and spruce with small needles. They are also very inexpensive. So I like the product but it needs to work with Fascia gutters. We used the 5.5" with 5" opening.

If you have a n ice guard and shingles are secured to that, how do you install these gutter guards..there is no way I can shove them under the shingle

mine would NOT snap in. it was like the lip on my gutter was too big, so I just tucked the whole thing under. it bows up, will see how it works!

I bought the Amerimax snap-in guards that don't have the additional fine-screen on top and I can't get mine to snap onto the gutter. I've watched several videos and everyone seems to get theirs to snap right on. It has me wondering if the problem is the edge on my gutter is too large for these to snap onto. Has anyone else experienced this and/or have suggestions?

I spoke with someone that confirmed I needed a tool to flatten the rolled-under edge of the gutter and after doing that, the gutter guards went on great.

@@bruceadonnelly69 I believe what I used is called a 'straight jaw sheet metal seamer' or a 'hand seamer'.

They need to show these with their own vinyl gutter system which has plastic hanger clips and a wide rolled front edge that prevents easy installation. The slot in the front of the guards is much too narrow to clip over the vinyl gutter edge and you have to manually notch the guards edge for every clip location.

If you install these as shown in the video, water runs down the face of the screen and over the edge, then pours down onto the ground. Really SUCKS after installing 200 ft of it! It has to be tucked under the drip edge and then clipped to the edge of the gutters so the water is forced into the gutters! WHAT A PIA! 🤬

Ok, i bought Amerimax vinyl gutters, Amerimax plastic gutter hangers and the Amerimax gutter filters. They DO NOT snap in place. They DO NOT fit over the hangers. They DO NOT fit on the Amerimax vinyl gutters. You would think they would make products that fit their own gutters. Not Happy.

Don’t install under first course as he is doing. Install under the starter shingle below the first course. You do what he is doing and your first row of shingles will blow off. Caution this. Also, I had to cut mine I. Order to slide up be use my starter shingle weee nailed properly down closer to edge so the nails prevented sliding up unless I trim back off to the mesh. Don’t use this with gutters less than 5”. It’s actually manufacturer for a 6” K style (Ogee) gutter. But as noted trimmed it works with a 5”.

He is doing it WRONG. You have to go under all shingles. You should NOT see the white in-between the shingles. IT IS WRONG.

Well, that is obvious. He was just demonstrating the position to let you see how the guard fits under the shingles. Geesh, so many people commenting on here should not be doing their own DIY.

No it will it will not snap right in after you clean then and they snap out ..so you need to make another video on how to re install them I understand you need a special tool !!!@!@!!!

Absolutely right. I previously watched the videos done by do it yourselfers, and they were 100% better. Not only that, this guy shoves the gutter guard up under the top layer of shingle and you can see the white gutter guard through the slots. It should be pushed up under the starter course along the edge of the roof. Very annoying demonstration. The guy is obviously a salesman, and not someone who actually installs this type of thing and is familiar with the challenges that might occur on a typical, real life job. My impression is that you'd be better of just reading the instructions included on the site in pdf format than getting them second hand from this guy. It also makes me nervous watching the video that this clown might fall off the ladder at any second.
