When I was 15 my Grandfather gave me a Remington model 11 20 gauge with a poly choke. I never cared much for the poly choke but it was there. The gun was pretty well worn down and needed some care so I had it re blued and the stock refinished. It was a very reliable gun and I spent many a day in the field with it building memories. Sometime later I joined the Navy and an Uncle got the gun and it never made it's way back to me.
Thanks a whole lot Art. I just made a great deal on a remington sportsman from the 40s. This video really helped me learn about these guns and disassembly. I appreciate the time you spend making and uploading this video.
I'm working on a Belgian made browning auto 5 for my boss he has just had the gun restored and reblued by a gunsmith after it had been through a flood it looks like a brand new gun but the furniture on it has had the finish damaged very badly and I'm redoing the stock and hand guard he thought that it was a remington but through watching this I have learned that it is in fact a Belgian browning because it has the fancier engraving and where the one in this video says light twelve my specimen says sweet sixteen because it is a 16 gauge very helpful video
Arts gunshop I know you guys are the father of restoring the long recoil action id love you to do another firearm long recoil operated gun I love Ithaca model 900s a lot of these guns are used and have seen better functional days
Nice video. Now you're making me nervous haha. The Model 11s are my favorite shotgun and all the ones I have, have worked great for years. Now I'm working about thin rails and collapsing springs. Of course I have replaced springs before.
Good video Art. I recently purchased a model 11 Remington. In really nice shape! It looks like it been re-blued and the wood refinished. Took the barrel down to check friction rings and magazine tube. Some surface rust, cleaned that up and the recoil spring and friction rings. Set it up for light load. Took it to the gun range for functionality. Cycled with no problem! Shot a round of trap, first time in years. 17/25! This gun has a Poly Choke on it. Set it for improved modified. As far as the choke is concerned and the type of shot for what settings, what would be your recommendations for it. The barrel was originally a full choke. Do you still offer a rebuild kit for the model 11? As I'm going to do a full tear down and clean up on this one. Just subbed your channel!👍😎
Does anybody know if a Remington model 11 350000 serial number range have fiber recoil buffer in the back of receiver I cant find one on mine may be long gone not sure
Great videos Art. Like to know if you have any information on Unertl scopes. Can't seem to get mine to focus. Also, how much are the Rebuild Kits for the American Browning and the Belgium Browning? thanks,
Hello. I have a Remington Model 11 problem. I took it apart and cleaned and oiled it, replaced all the springs with new ones. When I pull the bolt and release it, it becomes jammed inside the barrel lip. The bolt goes forward all the way and goes inside the barrel lip, but when I try to pull the bolt handle, the bolt will not move back. I have to remove the barrel to release the bolt from barrel. Any solution for this issue?
What is the kit for Remington Model 11 20 Gauge ? My recoil spring measures about 7", I imagine it is collapsed to this length? What is the length of a new spring should be? With the existing action spring t is extremely hard to pull the bolt back, not sure if previous owner replace it with incorrect action spring. Probably it needs to be changed as well
Despite what I’ve heard, my experience is that the 20 gauge model 11 recoil spring is non existent. The browning 20 gauge spring has a larger outside diameter and wont fit inside the forearm on my shotgun.
I have a browning a5 not a mag, it won't cycle a round on either setting, wounding if maybe the ring is to tight. The other thing is the gun has a vented barrel an I was wounding if it wasn't created enough pressure to make the action work?
I was given one of these Belgium shotgun it says light 12 and was in a house fire wood is gone but what size flat head does it take man these screws are like razor blade thin?
I have a Model 11 from my dad but it's never been repaired. Still in excellent condition. Was wondering why the cap at the end of mine is a small cap...solid and not a "bottle" cap type. I've never seen another one like this one. Ideas?
Likely been replaced over time do you know what year your M11 was made? That would explain alote. Mine was made in 1910 Wich makes it a Pre-model 11 seriel number 111,2**
Remington started production of the model 11 in 1905 and ended production in 1947. They made approximately 65000 guns under the FN/Browning name. And the Model 11 is the Remington licensed Auto-5 not the A5 those are two completely different shotguns.
Yes sir most people don't know that I was surprised myself when I got my first model 11 but I like it more then my browning A5's they may look the same but internally two totally different beasts
