This was really helpful as the mounting brackets for Besta have changed since I bought mine in 2017. I took them down last year and wanted to rearrange the layout but when I went to hang them, I realized I forgot how they were attached to the bracket! When I checked the instructions on the site, nothing looked familiar. This video was a life saver!

It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better ru-vid.comUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.

The one thing I didn't show was actually sliding it down onto the brackets, but that's pretty self-explanatory. Just position it a few inches high, hold it tightly to the wall, and let it slide down into place.

You didn't have to measure the top of the cabinet to top of the rail. You just need to flip the rail upside down against the wall and mark the holes and it will line up perfectly as per the instructions provided.
@AverageMe
@AverageMe 4 года назад
Yes, the HOLES will line up. But you still need to measure from the rail to the top of the cabinet, since the cabinet is higher than the bracket itself (you can see this at 2:20 in the video)
@alphacat9302
@alphacat9302 3 года назад
@@AverageMe i think jsiu is correct. When you flip the rail upside down, it is exactly the correct height that if you treat the top of the rail as the top of the cabinet, and mark your holes, when you flip your rail back over and attach it, the top of the cab will be at exactly the height you held it upside down.

Thanks. Your tutorial is very detailed and helpful but how do you get the cabinet level? What tools needed? I needed more info on wall studs as well. What are they? Why needed? How do you find them? I had to do some googling to get the answers cuz I'm a dumbo who has no clue, ha ha.
@AverageMe

I used a bubble level when marking the location for the bracket. If the bracket is level, the cabinet will be level. I measured the height location, then drew a pencil line using a level. I mounted the bracket on the line. You can see it at 5:46, which also shows the center line I marked. Studs are needed because you want the screws in wood. They will pull right out of drywall after time and the cabinet will fall! It's okay to use the drywall anchors in some places (like I did) but you really want a few screwed right into wood if possible. You can use a studfinder but I wasn't having luck because it's an exterior wall and the finder was struggling with the insulation. There's a light switch below the cabinet and I know that is mounted on a stud, so I used that for reference and measured from there 16" on center to find all the studs (standard building practices is to place studs every 16"). I drilled one small test hole to see if I was hitting wood (if wood was in the drill bit). I was, so I knew I was on a stud.
@michaelrivera3861
@michaelrivera3861 5 лет назад
What are some good screws to use to anchor the brackets to the drywall (ones going into studs and ones going into drywall anchors)? I put everything together before realizing they dont come with the screws for the brackets.

How would you do it if you were to align the cabinet all the way to the end of the wall with no gap? Is it even possible? Do you recommend leaving a gap between the cabinet and the wall?
@AverageMe
@AverageMe Год назад
Yes it's very workable. Make sure you measure accurately using the mounting bracket holes from the edge of the wall (corner), but I see no reason why it wouldn't work. I just wanted it to be centered between the wall and the window. The center of the cabinet should be measured from the wall, and that's there the center of the bracket will be.

@@AverageMe But can the cabinet be mounted slightly sideways when attaching it to the rail, in order for the side not to scratch the wall?

I have just bought mine besta wall cabinet too and I have put up the wall brackets and it look like is good to put my cabinet on to the bracket. But, I have a question for you when I put up my cabinet only one side is align with of the inside screws hole. But, the three hole doesn't align with hole inside the cabinet so I can't put the screws for the inside cabinet. And it's so hard to put the bracket onto the wall brackets. Everything look good but, I think I am doing something wrong but, couldn't figure this problem out. Would you kindly let me know what I am doing wrong. Thanks for your help.

Hey, great video. I was curious, when hung yours did you have a slight gap from the wall to the top of the besta cabinet? I probably have a gap at the top of maybe 1/6 of an inch or so, where as the bottom is flush with wall. Can't quite tell if this is normal. I think maybe not because the interior screws that go into the rail is about a hair to far for the screw to go into threading. thanks either way!
@AverageMe
@AverageMe 4 года назад
I did not have that issue. My cabinet is pretty flush with the wall. The only thing I can think of that would cause that would be a bent mounting bracket, or some other issue that caused a gap between the wall and the bracket; maybe even an uneven wall, or flaw in the plaster if it's an older plaster wall.

I'm not sure, as I no longer have the documentation.. It's a Besta brand from Ikea. I'm betting if you get their catalog, or even search online you might find it. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Once installed is there any left to right wiggle room or once you place it it won't move. Only because I'm putting three of these side by side and they need to butt up against each other perfectly but if they won't wiggle back and forth a little bit I'll have to make sure the measurements are totally precise so there's no space in between them

I'm pretty annoyed at the besta instructions. It shows a picture using reinforcing washers to hang the besta on the wall. I used toggle bolts which should have been fine. However, die to the thinness of the backing, they ripped right through. Now I have giant holes in my wall z.z honestly I cant think of any way to mount this shirt of actually zapping a 1x4 or something to the back to use as a hanging bracket.
@AverageMe
@AverageMe 4 года назад
The weight of the cabinet should hang from the mounting brackets as seen at 2:00 in the video. It's the bracket that should be securely attached (bolted) to the wall, not the cabinet itself (you can see the bracket at 5:33). There only purpose for the screws through the back are to secure it to the bracket, not to support the weight against the wall. Hope that helps.

I have a Besta TV cabinet that looks similar to this. I mounted hownot shows but it did not work. It didnt come with mounting brackets such as what you had :/

@@skatardrummer1 You have to buy everything separate. Cabinets, mounting brackets, doors, etc. If you use the Besta planner on their site it sorts that all out for you. If you ordered online, there is usually something that tells you the parts you need should you want to hang it. If you got it in store and asked someone about it, they failed to tell you you need to buy the bracket separately.

Hello, I have a question, can you tell me what is the distance between the top of the cabinet and the (fixing) hole of the suspension rail (bracket). Thank you
@AverageMe
@AverageMe 4 года назад
Gero Stera - i’m sorry but I don’t know. I marked the distance from the top of the cabinet to the top of the bracket, then I marked that location on the wall. Next I held the bracket in place and simply marked locations with a pencil where the holes were to be drilled. So I do not know the distance. In reviewing the video it appears to be about 2”

@@AverageMe In fact I see about 1.8 "in the center of the hole. I need to know because the wall on which will be placed the cabinet is a plaster partition and so I must provide a support to fix the rail of the suspension (bracket). thank you very much for your video, it will help me a lot. (And thanks to google translator).

How much does it drop down when you slide it onto the rail? I was hoping to install flush mounted under a bulkhead
@AverageMe
@AverageMe 3 года назад
Not much, only about 1/8” but you can’t mount it flush if you use the standard mounting brackets. You could make it LOOK flush by adding a decorative strip to hide the gap after hanging it
