Unfortunately, I didn't have any video, it was done couple years ago. For POE camera Lorex (particular on my old model back then), I needed to drill a 1" hole on the exterior wall so that the RJ45 plug + huge socket can pass through. I hope the newer model has improvement. To run the wire to the basement, I needed to open a small opening on the main floor drywall inside of the house. Using this tool "3-Piece Flexible Drill Bit Kit" to help me (see the link below) to drill a hole to the basement. After that, you fish the cable through those holes using the same tool I used in the IKEA OMLOPP video. There is a trade secret I learned from the professional alarm guys, instead of opening the drywall in the middle of the wall, pry open the baseboard, then drill holes or fish wire using that limited space. After that, put the baseboard back, no patching drywall is needed. www.homedepot.com/p/Klein-Tools-3-Piece-Flexible-Drill-Bit-Kit-53721/203913339
DIYable, thanks for the tips...Will definitely try them during installation. The kit is pretty expensive at Home Depot, will pick it up at Sayal electronics, $54 Canadian for a flex 3/4 x 72 inch.
How? That seems to be low voltage running through the drywall. I originally thought it was a regular lamp cord, but they’re seems to be a transformer at the bottom which the cables connect to.
That's right it's low voltage... it's similar to running Cat 5 cable with PoE (Power Over Ethernet) for security cameras. Anyone has the electrical code on low voltage cable, please share the link or article for reference. Thanks
