I had the black powder coated short tear drop with a shift pattern with Korean numbers and N logo underneath. The problem I had was 1) To line up the shift pattern required me to line up the non threaded adapter (which was a pain). 2) because the non threaded adapter had to be lined up separately, the screws within the adapter were on the edges (corners) of the shift column. Which kept coming loose as the screws slowly rubbed away at the metal on the column. 3) I had to take it off because it became loose again. This time was different, because the screws were scrapping away at the metal column until it eventually became loose which meant the non threaded adapter was now screwed into the shift knob without a way to get it off. I had to forcefully turn the knob until the knob and the adapter screwed onto the knob came off, shaving even more metal off the shift column. Having said that, I throughly enjoyed my time using it. Should they ever create an adapter that has an inner square to fit the square shift column instead of a stupid inner circle with screws. I gladly put it back on. But until then, buyer beware. Get a blank shift knob so you wouldn’t have to worry about shift pattern and/or image orientation.
Thats a good point that I hadn't considered. Perhaps you could adjust the orientation of the knob by placing washers of various thickness (or any sort of spacer shim) on top of the threaded adapter?
have you had any issues with the allen screws coming loose for you? I have this problem and I have to keep an allen wrench in my VN at all times to tighten it whenever it gets loose during a drive
