@@djkilpatrick5256 I used wire lube on the cables to pull them through the bars and a trick I saw online was to use a shop vac to suck the string through the bars in order to pull the new wires through - Worked like a charm. The main harness was a little tricky to pull through the front but with some patience it eventually came out after I watched this video and lowered the rear end to access the panel under the fender. PS - take a picture of the wire harness connectors to make sure the wires go back in the correct place...
I wish I had my own shop and career like you man lol. I’m so addicted to learning about bikes 24/7. Your living the dream man! I think I wanna make a small shop. For general bike maintenance , and modifications.
Just bought a set of 14" prewired ape hangers off ebay and was hoping someone posted something on youtube to give me some pointers. I think I'm mechanically inclined enough and confident I can do this with a little instruction. I used to wrench on my older bikes all the time but I'm real sure that my 2008 Fat boy is going to be a bit more challenging to say the least. I am glad to see you guys posted something. I haven't begun my project yet but I'm sure this will be a huge help. Here's the best part...Ironically, I purchased my pre-wired bars complete with all the necessary cables from an organization called Hill Country Custom Cycles. Maybe you've heard of them. I'll let you know how it turns out.🤞
I got a 2000 dyna wide glide and I'm trying to to put 16 inch meat hook ape hangers on it and for extension cables I'm only seeing wire kits to do it one by one but I found a couple sets of handlebar control switches with the wires that have the connector pieces like the ones in the video so I didn't know if I could buy the handlebar control switches with the connectors or if I needed to buy the wires and do it individually cause the person I bought the bike from cut them and tried to solder them and I don't think they knew what they was doing trying to get help to do it the right way
Incredible string of videos...thanks a bunch from those of us who are new to wrenching bikes but have visions and ideas which must be realized!! Priceless know-how!
Huge help buddy. Tryin to install a burly kit on my 96 fxds. I had the same dilema not finding the connectors. Great video you definitely know what youre doing im a gearhead but this is my first harley and first time ive worked on a bike
Awesome video. Subscribed. Love the 95th Dyna. Best paint scheme the MoCo has ever applied. Would've been a great time to take apart the switch housings and added somevchrome button caps :)
How about a video to replace handlebars on a1997 Ultra Classic? Putting 10” Apes on. Stock cables should be long enough from what I’ve been told but a video would really help me. Ty
Great instruction. I like those bars for my recently acquired 2014 FLSTFB, Do they come in Black? Matte, preferably. I've done plenty of wrenching on metrics but this is my first HD. Very Exciting!
I have a 2002 Vtx 1800s and I am currently looking for hangers to install on my bike is it possible hangers like those will fit a Vtx if not what do you recommend and if so what modifications has to be done to fit correctly?? Thanks in advance
Anyone know how hard it is to swap out 18" apes for 18" apes? I want to switch styles. If everything is virtually the same, could it be as simple as loosening the grips and reverse feeding cables and wires and not mess with anything internally?? Thanks
When changing stock handlebars on a 2003 HD Dyna WG to 9' mini ape hangers, will I need to change the cables? I'm thinking of replacing the handlebars. Thanks
