For me, the ideas in ru-vid.comUgkxAfqpMLyFn37qcqUl0FAzqkkycQeXqrhP Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.

always best to do first 3-4 rows of shingles than install jacks, so you dont have to remove them to shingle, and reinstall again. Ice and water, 4 rows of shingles, jacks, than continue prepping

true but you could have done that after the 4 rows were on and jacks, its pretty well the same thing. The height you put those jacks on was actually pretty damn close to where your 4th row would have been. The only time i ever put jacks on first without shingling is if im worried about rain and want to get it closed up quicker. Either way whatever works for you...good video still. Have a good one

Great video. I saw another roofer say to put the roof jack nails in at an angle. He’s on RU-vid all the time. He says put the nails in at an angle so the roof jacks won’t slip off. Who is right? Thanks again for your helpful video. It takes a lot of work to make these videos.

I looked at the video and wasn’t able to see the nails close up. They are regular nails and they aren’t at a angle because when he nails them in they are completely flat. I can’t imagine putting them in at an angle because they wouldn’t lay flat. I agree with you.

thanks for the vid.. i liked the clear explanation. Many other vids out there about roof jacks but were not as good as yours. What type of wood did you guys use for the planks to lay across the jacks? I have a 32' long roof by 20' high @ 7-8/12 steep. I'm going to lay the jacks from one end to the other and perhaps work with just 2 rows of jacks. Removing the lower jacks to the upper parts as i move up. i have access to the top of the roof from the other side of the roof that is much less steeper & of course working with a safety harness. Sound like a viable plan? I'll minimize walking on the new shingles with this method as well. The only concern i have is that i'm working with architectural shingles with Dragons tooth pattern & the concern is that the jacks don't exactly fit flush on the shingles due to it's various thickness & patterns- seems like the weight distribution is not quite even. What do you think Eric? Your input is also appreciated since your a pro too.

What do you do about the hole you just put through the ice and water shield and sheathing?

I didn't hear this cause its 4 am, but how do you get these jacks on, or rather off, if you want them on from the start on a stripped roof. I mean I can't put tar paper on top of them.

How strong are these? Are they easy to bend? Metal or aluminum?

You never showed how to remove the brackets. Kinda key because we can't leave them up there

This is the video that says not to put the nails in straight on the roof jacks. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6c7V_jME-eI.html
