In this video, we outline the installation of a 16kW Generac air-cooled automatic standby generator and a RTSY-200 automatic transfer switch. This video is meant to be a basic overview. Every installation is different. Be sure to carefully follow the instructions in the installation guide and product manuals that come with your equipment.

Hi, Dan,. I have a 17 K unit , it is large enough to handle my home which is 2500 sq. ft. My 17K unit run a full 12 min. on it's test run every Saturday. After another 15 min. I usually check the oil level and never see a milky white residue. You should be able to lengthen the run time on weekly testing. PS I love the unit....

How do you determine what size generator you need to run everything in your house?

Ron, send an email to support@betterpoweronline.com and we can send you a sizing guide, along with some tips on how to get accurate sizing for your home. If you're going to hire a contractor for the installation, they will usually size your home for free and give you a quote on equipment and installation. If you don't have a preferred contractor, we may be able to put you in touch with someone from your area.

NEC Code requires "flexible" PVC conduit from the solid sched 40 PVC by the generator.

I wish Generac would come out with a home WiFi interface so you could monitor your generator VIA the Computer or your smart phone. They do have a system which connects to cellular service. That may be good in a remote service area, but face it, that's just another expenditure we can live without. We all have wireless routers and WiFi that would extend to our back yards. I have e-mailed Generac and told their customer service about that but all they tell me is their "Mobile Link". I wish everyone would get in touch with Generac and push this feature and tell them to develop a WiFi connected system.

We've been asking for this for a while now. Generac has told us that we can expect built-in WiFi capabilities in the next generation of air-cooled models. In the meantime, some enterprising folks over at hackaday came up with this DIY solution. We haven't tried it yet but it looks kind of promising: hackaday.io/project/20601-raspberry-pi-backup-generator-monitoring

Mss burr you will need lp witch is liquid propane Just for the generator how much will depend on the size of your unit

So this unit is only good if you have Gas. I live in a manufactured home. And I have all electric. So I guess I'm screwed... Or have to get a gas generator to be stolen when I go to work.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hello, i AM FROM VENEZUELA. I BOUGHT A GENERAC ELECTRICAL PLANT BUT, LOOKING AT THIS VIDEO, I CAN SEE THAT MY USER´S MANUAL DOESN´T HAVE THE GAS PIPE RECOMENDED MEASURES CHART. WHERE CAN I FIND THIS ON DIGITAL OR ELECTRONIC COMPLETE VERSION?

+Luis Troconis you will need to find the btu's of the unit then size the pipe but what ever fitting that fits in it will do it it is the only thing on that branch. meaning that it came off the main gas line.
