Guys if you are going to install drop spindles, make sure you have 16 inch wheels (some 15s fit but it varies). YOU CANNOT USE FACTORY 14" WHEELS with the drop spindles!
Hell of a video 🔥 detailed it very well 🤙🏻 I just got a 86 Nissan and plan on going to lowrider route with spokes & chrome add ons but wondering what size tire and rims you got? Ain’t trying to scrape up the white walls or spokes…
Yo bro, that looks bad ass and I’d never used drop spindles on my 86 1/2 I turned the torching bars but next time I’ll use the drop spindles for sure.great job guys!!!!
Turning the torsion bars is definitely the easier and cheapest way to go about it. The drop spindles helps keep your suspension geometry closer to stock and gives you a better ride vs torsions turn. If you can get some, definitely recommend it but torsions will give you the look just the same haha
yes, 6 to 7 threads should give you enough space for alignment to be done right. Check out the belltech instructions too if you can't remember the size, it says on there as well
@@jkss007 if you don't want to spend the money for the drop spindles, just do the torsion bar method. Ride quality will suffer a bit but can get you low on the cheap and just add some blocks to the rear
hey yall those headlights are fire! where did you get em from? i love the tutorials too fr fr i have a hardbody an im about to change my steering wheel out too ::) 💯great work!
We did a full video on them, check it out here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d5zSYqKfkyQ.html and the link to them is in the description
Should be riding like a Cadillac I just figured you would have lowered it a little bit lower but it looks good the way it sits but then you are running a 16-in rim so it's not going to come down much more probably go to a 15 in rim 50/15 that will get you down a little bit lower
Rides way better than the Mazda that’s for sure. We like the 16s right now so we are happy with the current stance. If anything maybe it’ll be dropped an inch more in the future
@@FlakeGarage you must still have the bump stops in the Mazda I took all my bump stops out at my Nissan front and back rides like a Cadillac the Mazda should ride like a Cadillac as long as it doesn't have the bump stops but I do like to drop spindles I had that on my last mini
I have installed the belltech lowering spindles and blocks, however I am debating on what shocks to get. How have the belltech shock you installed held up?
I would look for some nice shocks that can accommodate whatever height you have on the truck. For a smooth ride you might want to get softer shocks. Also a good tire with a good sidewall will also help your ride be smoother. Low profile tires make your ride more harsh
Ok bro. I got my front and rear kit put in 4inch block s and 2 inch drop spindles ( got pull the torsion a little bit to get the front down more ) .. but here’s my problem. My tie rod end is rubbing the inside of my rim . Stock steely rims ( Side note ) .. so I’m thinking bigger rims is a must not going to work with the stock 14 inch rims .. but I also thought a spacer would work until I got my new rims in . So what do y’all think .. yeah I said y’all ( down south ) lol
You CANNOT use the factory 14" wheels with the new spindles. Getting some spacers might help but you definitely have to upgrade to bigger wheels to be safe. I think we missed that on the video itself but we definitely added it to the description above the tools list. 16" wheels will clear everything. Anything smaller might clear with the right specs but I'd recommend just going 16 and above
I have a 97, and it's lowered 4 inches in the back. I was installing this and when it was all said and done, my rims are too small. They are 14s stock nissan rim, but it grinds on the bottom arm, and the tie rod
Yes, you can’t use the factory 14” wheels with this kit. We have that on the description as well. Some 15s work and some might still give you issues. A 16” for sure should clear the spindles
What do you think the challenges I'll run Into doing a 4 inch rear drop plus 2 inch in front with drop spindles (2inch more in front with torsion bars adjustment) .. gonna be running 13x7 wires..
Depending on the size of the tire you might just scrape on steep entrances and hit the axle on the frame on big dips. You'll need some better shocks as well but I think it's all very manageable
Drop spindle keeps your factory suspension geometry and ride quality while lowering 2 inches. Torsion bars will affect your suspension and ride quality. Torsion bars is the cheap way to lower vs an expensive spindle
Can u explain more in depth about the brake caliper I'm doing the same kit on my 90 hardbody but the caliper bolt doesn't align with the spindle it's just a little off idk if 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder makes a huge difference but both models use the same kit so I'm most likely doing something wrong
You have to reuse the factory bolt that came out of the spindle on the old assembly. The one that held that middle cross piece on the back. Not sure if I’m explaining it well but it’s what shows up around minute 23:35
@@FlakeGarage yea I used both smaller bolts but my issue at hand is that the bracket hits the spindle itself I read on forums that have to grind a bit off where it hits but I wanna try to avoid that 🤔
Just bought this kit but with the sway bars I seen in the comment that is best to go with 16 inch rims I have 15x8.5 forgot the offset would I still be fine
If the offset is low enough you should be good, but pay close attention when you put everything back together and move slowly at first to make sure it all clears
Make sure the nut is in and hit the side of the spindle hard with a hammer and it should release the ball joint. Another method would be to rent a ball joint removal tool from autozone and use that too.
@@barrymonroy7138 Basically grab the big tie rod end and count 6 threads from the very edge that goes into the adjusting sleeve and cut those off. This will give you the extra space needed inside the sleeve to align. That's the easiest explanation I can give you. If you are still having issues, i'd recommend getting someone that knows locally to help you.
i installed 4inch drop, when i installed it makes this weird noise like it’s grinding, when i looked under the truck, it has metal shavings by the trans anyone know ?
Are they angled blocks? Anything bigger than a 3 inch needs to be angled for the driveshaft to line up properly and run right. If they aren’t most likely your shaft is grinding
Yeah you can definitely do that. Going with the spindle vs just using torsion for the 4 inch drop will make your ride smoother since you are keeping your suspension geometry almost factory
