this also works for a 2001 Nissan Sentra without rear folding seats. For the life of me I could not figure out how to get to the back speakers in my Sentra. Most 2001 models have the fold down seats but mine does not have this. Your video was just what I needed to figure out how to get to the speakers. Much appreciated!

Good vid but the real reason for the bit of rubber, adhesive etc. Is because the body of the car is grounded like the chassis. When you turn your car on after you put new speakers in the head unit goes into protection mode. It would probably do more that just that in a new modern day car. It could also start fires or wreck the electrical system of the car. Even if your new speakers don't come with any type of spacer you can make it out of mdf wood or anything non-conductive. Soldering is also good because the wires are stuck together and is cleaner. Crimps fall apart and when bunched up together it is bulky and messy and not the professional way.
I tried replacing my left rear speaker but when wired and done there was no sound at all, although my right speaker is still working any idea on what the problem might be?
you have to buy 12 or 16 gauge speaker wire and run it under your seats and trim to the rear of the head unit (radio/stereo) and wire them to the back corresponding wire.
