Total waste of money. Android can't be used in fullscreen. No sensor and 360 camera working you have to minimize and maximize each time.

Dealer is supposed to install carplay for free for 2016. There's a tech bulletin for it that specifically states it's a free install if the customer requests it.

I’ve installed an android unit on 2016- xc90 s60 xc60 s90 which is an accessory box and have it of my own in my xc60 polestar since I’m able to watch RU-vid etc… didn’t pay much attention to the xc40 but I can find out

It’s the same price as getting CarPlay installed at the dealer, except you don’t have to risk damaging your vents as they probable have the correct tools and more experience

Very true, but you can't get the apple carplay and android auto for the 2018 volvo cars.

No you’re wrong about that. You can get either Apple car play or android auto at an actual Volvo dealer. I’ve already asked and I have a 2018 xc90. You can also get the smartphone integration option that works with both Apple and android phones.

@Tarig Marzoug 2018 Volvo Cars do not come with apple carplay and android auto. I own 2018 Volvo S60 and it did not come with android auto and Apple carplay. Even if you get the fully loaded 2018 Volvo S60 it simply did not come with that option. That's why you see an aftermarket ones. If you are saying it is a dealership option for the 2018 Volvo Cars, send me a link?

@@ubiased23 I know it doesn’t come as an option but if you contact your local recognised Volvo service centre they can install it onto your car for the same price as what this person is selling their kit for.

This is dumb not only are you pretty much taking away all your features that the car has by buying this but the normal head unit has CarPlay built in from factory

The OEM features will keep working. OEM CarPlay is with wire and display at half of screen. This adapter is to convert with wire CarPlay to wireless CarPlay , display in full screen. Also supports Android Auto and Mirror link.

You don't get carplay with the earlier MK2 XC90 so this is a great way to fix this Volvo did advertise the car with Carplay when I was buying it but they didn't release it till later in 2017 I believe.

Yes, just remove them to get the connectors to connect with the CarPlay box. All the items will be installed back after connection.

Ive got a question my car it’s a Volvo xc90 2016 t8 and don’t have Apple car play Volvo asks for 700 euro for cable installation plus 200 euro to install Apple car play. This one will it work with my car and when you are listen radio in sensus and change to Apple car play will it work the radio or stops all and only the sound will come from the kit ? Also in calls can I use original mic from car or need to use the one from the kit ?

Hi yes will work as this car play it’s separate and I got it before and after I’ve install in Volvo CarPlay but had to get the usb kit also to work but this one it’s separate you don’t need anything

What about the USB cable, WiFi antenna, and external microphone? Where do those go?

USB cbale can be out at the glove box, WiFi antenna with the box, external microphone at the driver side will be ok.

Will existing usb ports works normally? no switching apple car play to half-screen mode?

@@MichalKotarbinskiThe OEM usb can work at OEM menu, can't work with the carplay box. The carplay box has usb cable. You can use the usb cable at the full screen carplay menu.

You can check if the Carplay or Android Auto setting at the phone has youtube or netflix. It can support if the setting has.

No... I got one of these right now I'm testing on it to see if I can get the sound to work but you do have access to RU-vid or Netflix in full screen by installing a third party MMB ai box

How do you control the heat / AC that are normally at the bottom of the screen? Can you post a video of how to get back to the OEM interface? Is there a way to set this to be full screen but still show the heater / ac controls? Do you have a link to an install instruction?

1. Heat / AC can be controled normally but the information will not display at full carplay screen menu. 2. The video about how to get back to OEM interface will be uploaded next week. 3. This video is the install instruction. If you want the video with more detail, we can send it to you too.
