How to Install CentOS 7 on VirtualBox in Windows 8 / Windows 10

I this video I am going to show step-by-step how to install the CentOS 7 Linux distribution on VirtualBox for pure and open source virtualization of your testing and development environments.
Create a New Virtual Machine (VM) with the Virtual Machine Wizard, choosing Linux for the OS Type and Red Hat or Red Hat (64 bit) for the Operating System. Memory should be at least 768MB for a graphical install to work. Next the virtual hard disk wizard will start. The OS disk should be at least 8GB. For a relatively full install, allocate at least 15GB, otherwise use all the defaults. Additional disk[s] can be added later if desired.

DUDE, A MILLION THANKS. I have watched hrs of videos yours is the one i came across telling me to choose what I want for a visual desktop. I chose one and it worked finally. I have been sitting for days at a black screen and login request and none of it worked. Now I have a graphic interface and it all works !!

Tried to reinstall it several times but always got error when trying to install VirtualBox Guest Additions, to get it full screen: "This system is currently not set up to build kernel modules" Tried bunch of fixes from forums but nothing helps. Is anyone solved this?

Hello ! My system doesn't supports Hardware Virtualization. I have to uncheck the box " Enable VT-x/AMD-V under the Acceleration tab of System Settings in Virtual Box....Will it work if I uncheck this box ?

Thank you! This worked for me. On one of last steps, the installation led me to the gui for accepting the license (didn't use command line like you show here). Also you called your machine cenos, not centos, not that it matters :-) Thanks a bunch again!!

Oh also the virtualbox machine would capture my mouse and I wasn't able to follow your video sometimes. I found out that you have to press the Ctrl key on the right hand side of the keyboard to release the mouse. Just in case it might be helpful to any beginner virtualbox user here.

Thank you for the tuturial. It's from 2016 but I was able to get up and running on 7.9 using a bit of common sense. Instead of the server, I installed GNOME desktop though cause that's what my class recommended.

I followed the procedure but encountered an error while launching the centOS vm that it has terminated unexpectedly during start up with exit code - 1073741819 (0xc0000005). The result code is E_FAIL (0x80004005). Please suggest the way forward.

At 08:10 minute in video. In the first menu of installation, as I selected "Install CentOS 7" a black screen appears and I waited for near about 10 minutes but it doesn't go beyond that point.... What will be the problem..???

i had that problem amd it started to work when i recreated centos in vmbox and at the point where i was choseing the version of linux, instead of red hat x32 i chose x64 and it worked :P it seems i could not install x32 OS... may be u have the same issue :P

you need to press your host key. Your host key is the "right control" key on your keyboard by default.

You need to know the difference of storage and memory. Disk is storage. Memory is RAM. they are both measured in MB/GB. Do not refer to disk storage as "memory".
