Thank you!!!! I have a regular automotive repair shop. I take on a lot of unconventional work. Recently I was approached by a friend who wanted me to replace the convertible top on his wife’s Mustang, I went and looked on my labor guide and thought that It would be reasonably straightforward to replace the convertible top. Thankfully I decided to watch a RU-vid video just to get an idea of what I was getting into. I was very fortunate to find your RU-vid video and realize immediately this is not the kind of job I want to involve myself with!!! I could see a multitude of places where my customer could complain and almost ceaselessly bring the car back for leaks or wind noise or anything else that they could claim I was responsible for after doing the job! I will be referring them to a shop that specializes in convertible tops. Again thank you very much for your video and high-level professionalism!!!! You literally saved me from a migraine!!!!👍😸

I have to tell you how absolutely wonderful your diy videos are. I have been a mechanic my whole life, but not upholstery. I would have been to totally lost without your videos. Thank you sooooooooo much. You guys are the absolute best.

Thank you Meca!!! I could not have changed the top on my 2003 Mustang without your videos!! I only needed parts 1&3 because my headliner is still in very good condition. 14 hours total had never done it before. 4 hours in tear down and 10hours of getting to top fitted and installed. Xoxo Gracias!!

Great tip that it has to be stainless steel staples! I haven't heard that on any other similar videos I've watched on how to do this. :-)

Thank you for these great videos!! I'm restoring a 2002 mustang convertible and I will be trying to replace the top myself using your videos. I do have a question....I am only replacing the top...not the window or headliner. Instead of cutting through the back window like the video, do I just remove the bolts at the bottom of the window to get out the top material? I also must replace the first header bar due to rust....any videos on replacing the frame pieces?

Thank you for watch my videos you have to you Almost Everything what I did the bar you have to unbolt it exactly like I did but do not remove dye staple of the the window Top & Bottom Bar the process is almost the same if you have any question let me know

Are you going to replace the whole frame or just part of the flame ?

@@mecaupholsterytips I have to see...I know I must replace the first header bar...I don't know what condition the rest of the pieces are in...I have another mustang convertible (2004) that I'm using for parts...so if the whole frame looks rusted I will replace the whole thing with the other one....that's the plan anyway....I'm buying a compressor and stapler this week....and an air ratchet. I have been wanting one for awhile...so this gives me a good excuse! You said the Staples should be steel....what size is best?

Your pump probably needs fluid, hoses coming off the pump are known to leak

I have to put a new top on my Cadillac Allante and they are one of the worst designs for a convertible top ever. MIne looks like it shrank and it's really hard to latch, but I accidentally ripped it folding it out(part of the bad design) I'm afraid the replacement might not fit right and I doubt I could make one

If you are going to buy a new top make sure to buy a good brand don't go with the cheapest one because that's what happened when people buy a cheapest convertible top most of the time it is hard to install it or it is hard to close it

All the time when you go in to close a convertible top that you just installed the top will be hard to close especially if it is old clasic or old
