Perfect Mom Video! I love how you show us how to use items we already have in the house. No recommended manufacturer products and extra money spent for things we'll only use once. Thanks!!! 👍🏽 Best home tint video I've seen!
Bought the Frosted version today, forgot to buy the installation spray and tool. Was upset with myself that I needed to make another trip to the store when I saw your video. Glass cleaner and a credit card did the trick! Thank you for the video.
I got the solution with the frosted film and just used my shower squeegee to smooth out the film and get ride of any moisture left. It worked pretty good. Also I sprayed a lot so it was really wet so it wouldn’t stick to itself why’ll I put it up on the window
A lot of videos on YT overly complicate things for me. I watched one on how to strip my rifle, 20 minutes one gunsmith. One country kid with a shit camera, 5 minutes with same result.
I use this Gila DIYsolution, today. I did my bathroom window with Gila's stain glass window effect window film. I use a plastic scrape I had from pampered chef. Worked perfect. I watched this video before I did my window. I used the tip about the tape. Thanks to your video. I felt confident I could do my window. What a sweet little family.
You guys are hilarious! I don't usually like when people ramble or leave a lot of unnecessary info or recorded parts but i like that you left things unedited. It was silly and cute without being annoying and I think that's hard to pull off in a tutorial. Great video!
God bless you! I watched other videos and they made it seem so complicated. I felt confident after watching your video and it worked!!!! Thanks a bunch!
No instructions say two person job but I did it by myself trick is first take the solution and wet a flat clean table like a kitchen table then roll film out. Go measure the window and cut a couple inches bigger then your window. Take the solution and spray the glass clean any dirt off the glass before wetting the glass with the solution. Spray the film all over get it nice and wet then when you start to peel the adhesive off spray the sticky side so the film doesn’t stick to its self that can be very annoying. Stick the film to the window use your hands to smooth it out. Now spray the film again grab a squeegee and flatten out all air bubbles keep spraying the solution until your happy with it. Clean everything dry and I took a pocket knife and cut the access film off and then let the adhesive dry it took a good day after I applied it to fully cure. It sound difficult but it was pretty easy
This product is awesome, bought the same thing at home depot but I installed a solar light outside so it turns on during the evening with the light facing the window so it still appears like a mirror from the outside and nosey neighbors can't see in. As long as there is a bright light hitting the window from the outside, people cannot see inside your house.
I like that it’s simple and easy to take off if say you live in a rental home. Plus it blocks 99.9% of UV light that can damage say hardwood floors in the summer time when the UV light at its strongest. I didn’t notice much heat blocking but that’s okay did block a bit of heat so that’s something
So, I was hunting around for videos for this film having just brought it home from Lowe's. I removed the framing and cleaned the window. While I was watching this, my window fell out of the its casing and fell flat on the floor. It didn't break. However, now, I need to recaulk it. Nice job on yours. Especially working over the sink.
Oh my gosh! Applied some on my daughter’s window and the very same happened. I live in an apartment. I’ve heard (yesterday; not sure if true, but more than one said) it is never good to complain to management. Doing so will have you evicted. Yikes! I was wondering if caulking would hold it in. Thanks. Reading the comments helped.
I might film mine, everyone will try it if I can do it. I will trip twice, drop it on my head, and cut myself with the knife. But, I won't have to pay anyone. It is like 40 bucks a roll, I didn't get it yesterday out of concern of it looking like tinfoil on a crack house.
You guys are so funny... I love how the baby and the cat just don't give a shit... Please do more informative, yet personal, videos that show the personal aspect of DIY's. It's in the eye of the beholder
I haven’t noticed any real heat blocking but the UV rays are the most important one. The UV rays destroyed my hardwood I don’t have AC and the UV rays heated up my floor too much humidity and destroyed them. Since I put this film up and I fixed the floors had to cut out the broken warped boards and replace them this film as stoped that from happening so very happy.
Thank You Thank You, perfect video. I found my full roll at the Thrift Store. New unused Roll. But none of the tools. But as it seems, all you need is Water Spray Bottle with a spritz if Windex, A Card (Credit Card) and an xacto knife. Perfect.
I love these window films but if you live in the area where you have birds then you want to cover both side of your windows. Birds see there reflection and hit themselves on the window. Sometimes breaking the window or hurting themselves. I have this many times, but i still use these films. In a pinch you can also cut gorcery bags and paste them up with soap and water solution.
First video is exactly what I wanted. Regular folks putting it up. Came out real nice. I had an Asian dude that put limo tint in my car that worked that fast. He wasn't on fast forward though, a tint ninja or something. Thanks if you check old videos, it helped motivate me to give it a go.
I’m thinking about mirrored window cling tint and a few of my windows. Not for heat or light purposes but for privacy purposes of being able to see out and not see in. I don’t like the idea of the inside mirror at night so, I was wondering if I put the mirror tent on if I could put like a slightly dark tent over top of the mirror on the inside. That way it will be a little darker all together with the amount of light that comes in but would it cut down on the mirror effect on the inside the window at night? I live in a northern state and we get winters and with the snow on the ground at night it’s never pitch dark like in the summertime the snow lightens things up so I’d like to have my window open and be able to see out without a mirror effect on the inside! So I’m hoping if I get a slightly dark film and apply it on the inside of the window as A second layer on top of the mirror film (mirror side facing out the window), if that would cut down on the mirror defect on the inside when it’s dark outside. I can’t add a dark only tint to the inside of my windows , Because it will absorb heat from the sun of the south facing windows and break the seal on my double pane windows and maybe even crack the glass! So I thought maybe I’ll try to films one over top of the other. Any advice?
I'm curious if you did what you mentioned here. I'm moving my office to my living room and my back will be to the front window. I am thinking of using the mirror privacy film on that window. Thanks.
Thank you so much! The neighbors across from me are extremely nosey and always watching my house (they're normal people who mean well even my friends! -they just have no concept of privacy💀) It makes me very uncomfortable since I used to live in a bad area and I'm not used to a nice neighborhood even after a year now here -im also generally very introverted haha Got some film today and needed a little help so thank you so much again! My anxiety can calm now😂💗
Very cool, I bought this film and will apply it tomorrow to disguise (hopefully) my daughters, boyfriends cat for the next few months!!! Hope this works! Or we gonna be assed out!😂
Thanks posting this . We just new patio doors that we didn’t want to drill screws into it for blinds. I saw this over at Lowe’s. I was a little disappointed in regards of the solution that they wanted you to buy. I’m glad you demo the application with water and couple squirt of window. Cleaner. Is the easy to remove later? Is the gluey residue left on window. The wife is concerned about that. Please help.
Thank you so much for showing that the tint offers privacy and you can't see through in buying no other site showed this at least the sites I visited again thanks cute lil 👶 baby😊
How much darker is it in the house? I just want to choose window covering or sheer curtain that brings in as much light as possible. I had nothing up before, but I want more privacy. Putting up opaque curtains is too dark.
Wait a minute, she put up the film on a kitchen window, above the since and she showed the test on a sliding door? I mean for a do it yourself it's good and practical but why not show us how it worked on the window?
Ha ha your a can do mum, I would still be cleaning off my work area, getting my preparation just right, then having a coffee while sat looking at the job, then starting! you on the other hand would have finished and be cooking the tea... Well done...
You guys do good! Thanks so much! Good video ! Right to the point I got the same problem with my kitty too ,wants to try to get out so funny! Cute fam! Thanks guys!
Hi hopefully you can answer this comment is this tint silver or blue? Because Im trying to get the lightest color possible so I can still have the same kind of view from the inside of my house?
I know this is an old video, but at night time when your inside lights are on do you have a mirror effect facing you and can you look outside with any problems?
Gila has a video about an alterative DIY Solution you can make yourself. Here what you need 1 quart of purified water, 1/2 cap of baby shampoo. Mix with wire whisk, put in squirt bottle.
This is why you pay a pro to do it, This will fade and bubble within a year and there will be so many dirt specs under the film and you can see how the film isn't laying at the bottom of the sliding door ( not enough water pushed out), But.... good on you for giving it a go.
Anyone know what is a good solution? Just water and soap? What kind of soap if so? I’m not buying the gila spray solution for another 30/40 bucks 🙄 Thanks
This product is either defective or does not work. I cannot see out but u can clearly see in when my lights are on. All i can see is a reflection. The adhesive was taken off while applying solution. I past that sticky side against the window and then u tell yourself this has to go this way. But mine must be a defect. Because i definitely can see in more than out. And it isnt that i applied it on backward because the adhesive cover is removed from the side that sticks to the window.
You're not suppose to use strong cleaners like Windex as they contain alcohol & ammonia (will cause color distortion & streaking), next time use a soft detergent like baby shampoo. Otherwise good job! :)
I don't have this brand I just brought some off eBay. The light that comes inside is slightly darker then a window without the film on. But light still travels through
Andre Barber only day time once it gets darker to dark people will be able to see inside when there is light on inside the building. This is great for day time privacy though
What's ur email new subbie. 😍😍 you can't see him but you can see the outline of his body .... can you put two films on one mirror to make it darker????
