You are the best! After 4 hours, finally, you explained I have reports in real time! Your written tutorial made the difference and you guided me here beautifully! Thank you!
There should not be a large effect in your site's speed when using the plugin. For more on how plugins affect your site speed, we would recommend taking a look at our article below: www.wpbeginner.com/opinion/how-many-wordpress-plugins-should-you-install-on-your-site/
After crating your Google analytics property, the MonsterInsights method is best and the only one you need to do to connect your Google analytics account.
I use the 3rd option and I crashed my site and wasted 4 hours for trying to get it back to work. No good at all! More free tools would be useful as so many of us are just starting and we don't have the money to invest in so many plugins. Thanks! I enjoy the videos by the way, very useful for beginners. :)
The plugins we mention are free, if you have to pay for plugins you are likely on WordPress.com in which case we would recommend taking a look at our article below: www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/self-hosted-wordpress-org-vs-free-wordpress-com-infograph/ If you're trying to set up Google Analytics on Wordpress.com, you would want to take a look at their guide below: wordpress.com/support/google-analytics/
Thanks for the video. My toughest challenge with Google Analytics is that is slows my PageSpeedInsites down and affects site rankings negatively. Scores are coming in around 80-84 compared to +95 before the GA install. I've tried tuts that recommend deferring the code on the initial loading, but it does nothing to help. Many web designers recommend not using GA for regular sites unless you have a solid need to use it; stating that you can get plenty of data from your hosting account statistics anyway. I'd appreciate any advice or tips that you may have, surely I'm not the only one with this issue. Cheers!
We would normally recommend using Google Analytics as your hosting's analytics can give you a decent idea of what is happening with your audience but, as a site owner it is more important to know what search engines think of your site instead of your hosting provider. For speeding up your site with the code active, we would recommend taking a look at our article below: www.wpbeginner.com/wordpress-performance-speed/
You can use either method and they are as good as each other for adding the code. MonsterInsights makes it easier to customize your tracking in a human readable way :)
It's been really helpful for me. Because, I was in the confusion of using which one method to connect my wp with monsterinsights. But your video made my mind clear to use the no.1 method. Thank you. #wpbeginner.
Heya! Great vid. I just run into the issue that eventhough i followed it step by step, MonsterInsights only wants to connect to the G and not the UA directly, i re-did the installation now 3 times but keep having the same issue. Any idea how to fix it or is this due to new settings?
Google has stopped processing data on UA accounts as of July 1st 2023, you will not be able to connect to your UA account. You would need to use the dual tracking option if you wanted to try to keep your historical data.
Thank you for the video! I have used the Insert Headers and Footers plugin; can I add more pieces of code within the header/footer? I would like to track traffic from our company's Facebook and LinkedIn pages and i understand I am to add Google Tag Manager codes
If the code should go in the header, you can add additional code beneath any already added code. As long as the code does not have any errors you can have multiple codes in the plugin.
Sorry, potentially a dumb question here. We only want to use one method correct? So I've gone in and installed MonsterInsights. I don't want to do the other two methods correct? because that will wreck my data?
Google Analytics would not be used for the consent, you would want to look into the plugins from our list below for some options: www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/best-gdpr-plugins-for-wordpress-simple-reliable/
Great video, thank you, you're a natural and really clear and I now have an idea of what i am doing next! If I choose Monster Insights does this mean I can see the analytics on the website admin as well as though Google Analytics?
If your connection was through MonsterInsights and then removed the plugin, you would lose your tracking. If you add the code with two methods then your tracking numbers will likely be incorrect.
In analytics dashboard I see "Create Property" which is similar to Search Console. I want to use my Google account to set this up on multiple properties. Do I just "Create Property" or should I "Create Account" first? I have already created an account for my business and this would be the business managing multiple properties
If we understand what you're wanting correctly, you can create properties for your different sites for what you want. You may want to go through the guide below from MonsterInsights: www.monsterinsights.com/how-to-add-a-property-in-google-analytics
So if we install Method 1 with adding the G code into the Dual Tracking box, we don't need to do Method 2 or 3? I believe I read I am supposed to copy a code onto every page of the website as well?
For Google's Search Console, we would recommend taking a look at our article below: www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-add-your-wordpress-site-to-google-webmaster-tools/ While you can use Google's site kit, we prefer the tools we have recommended :)
It would depend on the specific error. You may want to take a look at the written article below: www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-install-google-analytics-in-wordpress/#installga-wptheme
Hello, first of all, thanks for your video. I have been watching videos for 3 days now! and I keep missing details and coming back to 0 point :( first question Should I install Wordpress on my PC or use it online? second question Can I use GA without using wordpress ? Help, please I'm sinking here ..
You would want to install WordPress on a hosting provider online if you want others to see it, if you are only testing it, there are tools to allow you to install it on your computer. Google Analytics does not require WordPress.
i have three website, and created three properties but i am seeing the same data on the three different site from my monsterinsight dashboard. i don't know were i am getting this all wrong. any video on this pls
If you reach out to MonsterInsights' support using their page below they can take a look and help you sort out this issue: www.monsterinsights.com/lite-support/
isn't site kit by google better? google search console and analytics in one pluginn instead of adding multiple plug-in that diminish the speed of website
If you mean Google's tag manager, we would recommend taking a look at the guide below from MonsterInsights www.monsterinsights.com/how-to-install-google-tag-manager-in-wordpress/
