I do not see the point of using the power drill to tighten the screws, that just extra work. They are driving the wingnut all the way in, just a couple of turns more by hand and they are tight.
Is it possible to double the storm shutters by using two storm shutter sets on each window? Using two sets of the storm shutter would double the thickness of the metal storm shutters. I'm guessing that would increase the strength against flying debris that hits the storm shutters.
Yes but they have a rating from the state of Florida that will protect you up to a cat 5 hurricane, really any winds over that will just about destroy anything just like a tornado
what do you do if you have a window ledge sticking out on the bottom by an inch or two? How would you install these panels in that situation? They seam to work well with a completely flat wall.
do you have a picture of your window from the outside ? if you have a precast sill outside then you should have metal tracks installed under the sill and over top your window
I have stucco window ledges outside, we placed mental storm panels horizontal with Male panel mates on sides of windows to avoid the bottom bump caused by the exterior window ledges.
