Check that the server info is correct either that you input the info correctly or that the server is currently active.

Sorry I didn't make that clear yes you need to use the username and password from your VPN provider.

I know some video streaming programs won't let you watch them if a VPN is on is there a way to turn them off like split tunneling like in the ipvanish app or do you have to turn it off on the router everytime

You can do that on the router but to be honest I don't know how. I have the ASUS router app on my phone so when I need it I turn it on and when I don't I turn it off.
