I watched so many laminate installations videos, I was about to give up on installing this stuff. I couldn't get the boards to go together and lay flat. I decided I was just going to paint the concrete and be done with it. Then I found this video and my floor's destiny changed. Putting it in backwards and beating it directly with the mallet worked great. Thank you!
I used to "real" wood...starting in the hall way, ripping a spline to work "backwards". I have watching a couple of the fake wood flooring and the guys are saying they don't like working backwards. This is great...I'm starting in the hallway and I'm going backwards baby! Thanks for your video and time to share with me!
I would have never thought to do this...great idea. I'm going to be using Flooret vinyl rigid core. (waiting to see if they have another promo) and this might be how we will have to do it.
Thank you. There are so many different locking system on all these different products and every locking system has a way that it installs the best. It pays to do your research. Tim
Hey Tim, Mike in WI again, I’m laying a NuCore founders gunstock (it has the stone middle layer for rigidity) and a small section of the kitchen is ceramic tile, what do I need to do to lay over ceramic?
Nothing special just make sure you don't have any corners stick up on the tile. It needs to be flat. Its can go right over the grout joints without any problems.
What method do you use for Hydroshield? I’ve been having a hard time to lock the pieces together. It’s 12 mm thick. I can’t find any info on it except that people struggle with it.
Why not just do the normal way but take a scrap piece of laminate you're using lock that into wherever you want to hit and you will never damaged a lip again. Plus you always have the perfect fitting block to use. Great video tho .
Why does so many use the 1/4 round instead of pulling off the trim and putting it back? The 1/4 round isn't really my taste but I see it so often. Is there a particular reason its used so often?
It's a lot less trouble than pulling the trim, which could often require re-painting the walls. Plus, some would end up using quarter round or shoe moulding regardless, so this is just an easy work-around. It's better if the baseboards aren't there, but this is an option a lot of people use.
That padding looks like you got a bunch of expired vaginal birth kits and stitched them together with tape lol. I just had to say that joke my wife was in tears when I blurted it out however there was some great info here thanks I really learned a lot after we stopped laughing.
