Today I will show you how to Install macOS Sonoma 14 on an Unsupported Mac, MacBook iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Pro - Basically ANY MAC that has been made from around 2012 onwards. However I will show you how you can check if your Mac is comptible with Sonoma too
To be clear this guide shows you how to install Mac OS Sonoma, it is up to you to backup your data first and use Sonoma at your own risk, I am not responsible for any loss of data etc...For me as you can see I installed Sonoma and it worked for me, however due to unforeseen circumstances I can't help with all install steps if it doesn't work out for you. I also can't support or guide you on the use of additional Apps you may install like for example Office (word, powerpoint, excel), Final Cut Pro, Photoshop etc... they may work - they may not. However do help others in the comments if you get Apps to work what other are struggling with.
As Mentione din the video you need to download a SPECIAL version of OpenCore Legacy from this link below;
github.com/dortania/OpenCore-...
Using OpenCore; I have successfully installed macOS Sonoma 14 onto a 2012 MacBook Pro and you can to on your Intel Mac!
You will need a USB stick and and the SPECIAL OpenCore Legacy patcher.
The USB stick I have used and works with MacOS Sonoma is this one;
UK - amzn.to/2UKD7EW

3:00 DO NOT SKIP - Important Steps before Starting!

I did this a few days ago to my old 15" MacBook Pro Retina, now I have it running in my garage running as a Server with a couple DAS drives in RAID holding my Lightroom photo library and a couple external SSDs for macOS backups and another for holding movies for streaming. My DAS with HDDs is a bit loud, so I"m glad it now sits in my garage instead of my desk in the house. I wish I would have built my home server a lot sooner since my old MBP was just sitting in a drawer since I upgraded to an M1 Pro MBP.

Thanks and this has breathed new life into my 2014 MacBook Pro. However, I almost killed it with the macOS Sonoma 14.1 update. To all, make sure that you wait for the OpenCore Legacy Patcher update and run that first. Otherwise, you might be unable to reboot your Mac after a macOS update. Thank God I still had my USB boot flash drive and could recover. Thanks again for the tip, and God bless

Thanks for this . I installed Sonoma to my 2017 iMac 5k 27" (iMac 18,3) took about 1/2 hour. The only issue was that when you eventually copy to the internal drive, I selected the 3Tb HDD instead of the 312Gb SDD ... but I just rebooted from the external SSD and OpenCore took me through the copy process again, letting me choose the SSD drive. Seems slow to boot up even so ! Otherwise, everything seems to work ok ! Thanks again for this video, it's really good! Update: spoke too soon. It failed and a reboot went to hell . Spent last 2 days wiping the HD and trying to reinstall Ventura. Yes, I backed up to Time Machine but it raises a hardware error when I try to reinstall. Looks like the HD got portioned or corrupted by the patch … currently shows 2.5 hours left to install. Fingers crossed

Hey. Congratulations on your install. I'm about to do it but I had a question. You know how he patched the system to run without the USB with open core, and rebooted; now although he didn't hold the option key, it still showed a disk drive, but then automatically booted. My qeustion is, will that show every time, or does it directly boot to the apple screen, like usual? Thanks

Thank you so much - got sonoma final image running on a 2014 Mac Mini on a load with ~1.2 with a intel core I5 dual core with HT - 4GB reserved for the OS 4 GB free for Apps I first tried Monterey as thieves is the official last image and I noticed more load and background noise than on sonoma so I recommend to go that step And last recommendation is to skip the iCloud sync in the installation process first and configure App Store and I cloud sync later Thanks 🙏 again for the video

I have the 2011 27inch running Sonoma it work so far. I did what he did. but I make a partition for Sonoma and I still had my support Os out the box running on this iMac that is High Sierra. If you make a extra partition and nothing works you can go and delete the partition and still keep your Os and still have a working computer. then you can try the other 3 Os and see if they work for you. By following the same steps. Use open core 1.0.1
@freetobe3
@freetobe3 9 месяцев назад
I have the late 2011 13' MBP. Running a patched Catalina. It's running slightly better than officially supported High Sierra but let me tell you this, get the 2012 model, it makes a difference from a Metal support for newer Mac OS versions, if running Linux it doesn't really matter though, and USB 3.0 is a god send compared to USB 2.0 so from a practical standpoint that'll make a huge difference if you're the kind of person who wants to use a computer like this to do basic browsing and managing data back ups on external storage.

I have a 2012 MBP and it runs perfectly. it actually surprises me everyday. the body is out of style, with the CD drive and Mini display port (which i bought an adapter that connects to hdmi and works like a charm)
@freetobe3
@freetobe3 8 месяцев назад
@@newmanh I disagree, the body is most definitely not out of style, if Apple added back some display bezels to their line up they'd end up looking like a very mild variation of the OG unibody design. But yes, their port selection was a bit outdated even back then, HDMI was already a well established standard by the start of the decade and Apple used to have a history of pushing out technological features ahead of others, and Firewire became obsolete the moment the USB 3.0 standard came out. CDs were still common and would still be at least mildly relevant for a few more years if the market hadn't fallen into sucking Apple's ding dong every time their took a dump. With that said, at this point in time, a fully upgraded non retina MBP is quite usable, the 15 and 17 inch ones even more so, and I will gladly keep on trucking with it for as long as Mac OS and eventually only Linux supports it to watch cat videos.

I upgraded to Sonoma on my 2017 MacBook Pro yesterday and the OS works smoothly. However, all of my registered fingerprints were deleted from the system, and when I tried to add them, I was asked to enter my password, it didn't matter how many times I tried, the system didn't seem to accept it. So Sonoma works great, however, Touch ID was gone for me. I also tried to boot it on "safe mode" but it got stuck, and couldn't troubleshoot the error. I'll give it a couple of days, and if it doesn't work, I'll go back to Ventura. Thank you for your help on the process!

In OpenCore Legacy patcher notes it clearly states that T1 chip support for the fingerprint functionality is not working at the time, so that was expected. I advise to first read thoroughly all documentation and release notes before jumping to use OCLP directly.

My iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) is stuck at Big Sur. I'd be happy to push it beyond Big Sur all the way to Sonoma, but I am wondering if there is a sweet spot between MacOS 11 and 14 for my particular iMac? So officially MacOS 11 is where Apple support for my iMac stops, but at 11 (sorry, SpinalTap) my iMac doesn't keep up with Apple Home (for my security cams, etc.) or other apps/features. But maybe Sonoma is too greedy. How would I know? Is there a chart out there?

I figured my 2011 IMac would be too slow to get very far. Using this tool, it installed and ran Big Sur great with no no noticable lag. I got greedy and tried to jump all the way to Ventura, and it runs, but it dogs a lot, and RU-vid video is choppy as hell. I'm gonna try to split the difference, reinstall High Sierra and use OpenCore to install Monterey. I think if someone had a 2011 and did a GPU upgrade, Ventura may run well.

I have a Mac Mini Late 2012 and a Macbook Pro Late 2011. Both upgraded with 1TB SSD and 32GB Ram (both are Intel Processors). Considering this setup, can I upgrade the OS to Sonoma 14?
