How to Install Map Updates on a Subaru Outback/Legacy 

This is the most cumbersome, lengthy process...... Subaru-You can do better.

Does t his even work? I get an error message when I enter my VIN. "Your VIN is not valid or not registered yet. Please try again or come back in a few weeks." Car is a 2016 Legacy 2.5i limited...what do you mean its not valid? Is this for Canada only?

I have a 2016 Outback and it has a mini SD card with the maps program on it - does it work the same why with this?

Android Auto decided to make voice commands "unavailable." It seemed to also be affecting the head unit's software as well. I reset the head unit back to factory default. Now, it connects to WiFi but refuses to do its own software update. I don't use any native map software on the head unit. I just need to get the head unit updated back to current software release until Google/Android fixes their bug.

We ran the car for an hour and only a tiny fraction of the data was transferred. How long can you live your care idling for this?

you didnt mention paying for the update, does having an account change that?

It doesn't show the year 2021. Are these not updateable?

How could they make something so complex? This should not be this hard

Application installs but rejects the VIN even though it is correct. What type of drug is this crap smoking? I am in Canada so this is ridiculous.

Ashamed of Subaru they can do better. We can't get map updates without complex instructions

If there was ever a great example of a Rube Goldberg process. this is it. Awful!
