This is a video that shows how I installed my MV Motorrad bar risers onto my 2016 FJR1300. In my opinion, they made a big difference for me for comfort. If you decide to place an order for a MV Motorrad riser, make sure you order the one for your proper year's FJR and select if its the ES or non-ES version.

One of the best install videos I've ever seen for anything. Very methodical and thorough. Just what someone like me needs!

The seating position of my '15FJR is why I decided to sell the bike. I adjusted the handle to the most aft / rear position towards me, hoping for an upright seating position, but that was not enough. I still find myself leaning forward, and I get lower back discomfort on longer rides. There is no way I can make a road trip of several days on the FJR. That is when I decided to look into bar risers and came across the MV Motorrad. I placed the order on Tuesday morning and delivered it on Thursday afternoon-speedy shipping from Germany. Your video produced the clarity I needed to complete the installation.

I installed mine yesterday and will test them out tomorrow. Only issue I had was dropping the longer screw on the brake line bracket. Still looking for it and went and bought a new screw at the hardware store. Thanks again for the best how to video yet.

Just installed the mv motorrad handle bar extension on my 08 fjr. This video really made my install much easier since the instructions only help to a certain point. Thanks for this video. Also this mv extension really made a big difference for me. Now I'm not reaching and no more pressure ony hands and shoulders. I'm now on a upright position. Very comfortable. FJR Nation!!!

Hey Sergio thought I would ask you if these adjusters helped with forearm burning issues and other issues that come with the fjr’s. I’m naturally taller with longer arms so I don’t mind having my arms stretched out straight but my right forearm burns really bad because of the angle of the handle bar
@sergioamescua6264
@sergioamescua6264 3 года назад
@@tommyv22222 how's it going. For me the handle bar extension works well. I'm only 5'8" and still felt like I was reaching for the bars. I was feeling it more on my sholders and upper back. Also my hands tend to go numb after riding for a while. More the left hand. Nothing on my forearms. Now i sit very comfortably and upright. Maybe if you get the risers your not putting too much pressure on your forearms. But not sure if the riser will help you out.

@@sergioamescua6264 I have a Gen 2 2008 And came with 1 inch risers which seems to be all right but it could just be where I am used to my older sport bike that has clip on‘s The weird thing is I can ride that for two hours and not feel nothing but when I have my handlebars on my FJR in the far back position with the 1 inch riser that’s when I feel at the most when I move them to the Forward most position it doesn’t seem to hurt as bad It also came with Cupped tires so the bike doesn’t track straight and I realized the other day that I had to kind of use more pressure with my right arm to keep it straight so I’m thinking that and also the throttle and not being used to that position could be causing my forearm to be burning. Well I appreciate you getting back to me I’m going to replace my tires and see if it stops and if it doesn’t my next step will be the MV Motorad adjustable riser and hopefully by being able to straighten out the handlebar a little bit it will make all the difference I noticed my arms with the angle now have a weird kink in them So maybe that 20° adjustment angle will make all the difference thanks again I appreciate it and be safe riding!!!

I just purchased a 2024 FJR 1300 and I have already adjusted the bars to the back. Still not sure what I might do to make it more comfortable? I've been looking into Bar Risers and I was glad to come across your video, because it looks like the best way to go. Much less intrusive than The Bar Risers that just raise the bars without coming towards you, and it looks like an easier install. Still breaking in the new engine and I'm quite impressed with this new Bike! I also own a 1990 Yamaha VMax, and a 1998 Suzuki 1500 LC. The FJR is Quite Impressive, plus I'm acclaimating to all of the new technology! Thanks for the great video, and a bit of advice when using a Torque Wrench: Left hand on Pivot Point, Right Hand on end of wrench, feet in a forward stance ( Left foot forward, Right foot back). This will reduce the chances of slipping on the nut or bolt that you are tightening, and give you better control and leverage.🙂

Thanks for your video! It was invaluable when installing my risers today. One thing that was on my paperwork was to move the throttle cables on the right hand side out of the harness and zip tie them to the fork. I didn't see that mentioned in your video nor did it look like you re-routed yours? I could lock out the bars on both sides without moving them, but there was definitely more slack when I did.

Nope...never needed a brake extension cable. I didn't do any adjustments outside of my video. I still have my FJR that's in this video and ride it nearly everyday. More than likely, the documentation in German is for inspection certification in Germany. In Germany unlike the US you cannot just change to a different part or even tire size without certification so that you can pass the annual inspection (TÜV). You can disregard it here...

Hey Vicky I know this is an old video but was wondering if you ever had to deal with your right outer forearm burning with the original set up? If so when you put these new riser adjusters on there did it help being able to adjust them to different angles
@vickip
@vickip 3 года назад
Gosh...it has been a while. But I can tell you, on my previous gen FJR, my right hand did fall asleep with the original setup to the point where I had to rest for a few minutes. With my current setup, I have a crampbuster on my throttle, which helps a bunch. I do remember, on the original setup, I had to lean forward more, so this put pressure on my hands. Yes, with this particular riser...the MV Motorrad, you are able to adjust the handle bars to different angles and how forward or back you want your setup to be. I love my risers, and will definitely install them on my future FJRs.

Installed today the Motorrad Risers on my 2012 FJR exactly as guided by Vicki. Riser plate is all the way backwards (towards seat). My assessment is that the the cable harness leading to the right handle is very, very tight. To the point in my mind that it may be at risk. Vicki, I used that adaptor block on the right side, adaptor plate on the left side and removed two ziplock ties on the left side. I think it is still very tight and with hardly any slack. Wondering if you ended up rerouting the harness leading to the right handle. Other than that product is great! Thanks!
@vickip
@vickip 3 года назад
Congrats on the install. No, I did not have to re-route the cables. Maybe my FJR or the 2016 had slightly longer cables. I don't remember if I have the riser plate all the way towards the seat...not sure if that's a factor.
@yl4970
@yl4970 3 года назад
@@vickip Ok Vicki, got it. This morning I plan on pushing the plate a bit forward (towards cluster gage) to see if I can get some additional slack. Again, issue with the install is with the right side. Harness leading to the right handle is very tight in my mind and clipping the ziplock ties on the left is only releasing one or two of the cables leading to the right handle, not all of them!). So we’ll see...Thanks much!!!

@@yl4970 Did your issue get resolved yet? Am curious as I plan to invest in the MV as well but have been reluctant all along not knowing how to manage cables.
@yl4970
@yl4970 3 года назад
@@ShujaKidwaiMasauliwala Had to adjust the handle to a wider angle than I originally wanted… I am managing and the riser plate itself is crafted professionally.. However I don’t believe the overall design is flexible enough to allow complete freedom in adjusting angle of handles and movement of plate backwards toward rider. Again, it is all about creating too much of tension to the throttle cable assembly…

Hi Rosario, back in 2018, I paid $265.50 with shipping and everything for the risers directly from MV Motorrad. I provided the links in the description under the video. You just need to select which year and type of FJR you have, or just go to their website directly. I received the risers from them very fast...I believe it was one week after I placed the order. It comes from Europe.

At 7:09 when you loosen off that bolt, does the whole assembly (block & 3 silver lines) just pull forward without any damage? Mine felt like it was pretty firmly in place and that something would damage inside if I just pulled it.
@vickip
@vickip 5 лет назад
I just pulled the blocks back and they didn't cause damage. I had to place a screwdriver into the hole as leverage to pull back so I could align the holes. It was a pain in the butt to line up, but very doable...just takes a little patience.
