Wow. I didn't realise they dropped the öhlins damper from the factory bikes as a standard part. Nice colour dude wish I had the $$$ to invest on a 636! Mine is 2010 came with öhlins damper as a standard- but I read they need to be refitted with an internal kit which is sold by öhlins to have the race kind which is what you want for the track. I am still researching to see if this is so.
I have a Kawasaki zx6r 2011 that came with a steering damper already.Is it possible to upgrade the factory one to a better one installed where the factory damper was using just the hardware that came with the factory one
Hey Chris does the bracket assembly suppose to feel loose? The bracket that actually holds the steering damper, I tightened it all the way but there’s still play in there. Thanks, the steering is stiffer for sure especially all the way up.
will this work on the zx6r 99 ? g1-g2 model bikes. IV had steering wobble twice , I managed to hold on, but almost shat my pants when I saw a ditch coming up
Can you confirm if your steering damper has 21 clicks? Mines does, I just installed mines and from what I’m reading online, it says base has 18 adjustable settings (clicks).. is mine defective or something lol.
tsi4ya I believe they are called steering dampener mounts. I’ve seen some after market ones from eBay that looks exactly the same. They are CNC aluminum mounts.
sorry man, thats a counterfeit ohlins. thats not the way the adjuster looks, thats not what the logo looks like, and thats not how the body of the unit attaches to the mount...
PhyZeik if you’re going fast and hit a bump or land a wheelie off center at high speed and you’re bike will try to straighten itself therefore slapping the bars against your tank which usually results in falling it’s hard to control it after that
A steering dampener is for +/- resistance. So not quite, after you install it, you have to start from 10 clicks out and + clicks according to your riding style. I find that 12-16 clicks fits me for street and track.
I don’t have the bike anymore to show you but since I have ohlins, Can’t use the front steering. I undid a clip on bolt, believe it’s a 8mm handle bar base with M8 bolts. They are a kit with different lengths. Not great if you have a big phone, so a taller windscreen is recommended over stock. I hit the windscreen with my phone all the time. 😅
