While it’s tempting to increase airflow to the FMIC, it’s crucial to ensure the turbo continues to receive adequate cooling air to prevent potential damage. Although our turbos are equipped with coolant lines to help maintain their temperature, diverting airflow can lead to higher coolant and oil temperatures, compromising the cooling efficiency. It appears that the engineers designed these cars thoughtfully, and in my opinion, upgrading the TMIC is a more balanced approach.
We are not arguing that fact, but if you are running an FMIC, there is no need to have the hood scoop open any longer. Keeping the hood scoop open, just increases underhood pressure, if a TMIC is no longer present. We highly advise pairing the Hood Scoop Block Off with our Hood Louver Kit in order to decrease underhood pressure as well as engine bay temps.
