I'm wanting to buy the rear coil over kit rear shocks ds403. I've herd from other the trunk mount breaks, would you recommend this single adjustable coil over for rear or keep the air bag set up. (Works well) Other are saying the weight of Impala was to much for rear shocks and it broke inlet?! Let me know opinion. I have no experience, this just other people opinions, they given me advice on. I just bought your single adjustable shocks up front new.

Are you going to answer the question about the upper shock mount strength? I agree the sheet metal cross brace doesn't seem strong enough to hold the cars weight. Other vendors create a interface in the upper spring perch which was designed for the weight. I really like your products for my 65 but the upper coil over mounting is an obvious flaw. I'd appreciate a response as I'm sure others would

The 65-70 B body frames have a full width shock crossmember from factory. So in all of our testing and we've seen no deflection or deformation of this crossmember when coil-overs are being used. That is assuming the frame and crossmember is in good condition. We do not offer an alternative style mount intended for the car, but if you do end up reinforcing this area, and/or adding a crossmember for the shocks to mount in, we would still be able to assist in getting the correct shocks and spring setup for you.

Isn't the upper shock mount crossover brace sheet metal a pretty weak point to be attaching coil over shocks in place of pocketed heavy duty frame coils? I could see using coil overs for lateral control in addition to the original coils but... I have a 66 too and I've had someone install too short a shock once that actually ripped the mounting holes out of the shock cross brace during an extreme steering event. That bended sheet metal isn't that strong. One of the first upgrades you used to do with old tri-fives was to weld in a tube crossover upper shock mount. Seems like you are regressing with this system on the impalas

I was wondering if that upper attachment point was strong enough to hold the weight of the car as well

This kit does away with the coil springs kinda of, the coilover installs in the shock position?

Yes, this kit completely replaces your OEM shock and spring and bolts right into the factory shock location.
