Yes but make sure that you don’t void your warranty by opening your laptop. I did this when I tried to fix a laptop by myself.

Hi, my laptop has two 8gb ram sticks, one of which is soldered on. Is it worth it to replace the other with a 16gb ram stick? In other words, does the benefit of 8gb more ram outweigh the cost of the ram sticks not linking up in capacity and/or speed?

Hello, I have 2GB Ram DDR3 665Mhz frequency in 1st slot and second slot is empty, So I want to upgrade my Ram in second slot which ram is better 4GB or 8GB DDR3 in the empty slot, which increase the speed of my laptop, If in one slot 2Gb and second slot 8gb they work well with this combination, and insert ram with same brand is well.

Currently I have 4gb ram in one slot, and 2gb ram in the other. I didnt install the software you mentioned, but I looked at the documentation, and it says you can have up to 16gb ram within the 2 slots. Does this mean I can buy different brands of ram that have the same power, etc. I may have taken it wrong, but I believe you mentioned if both slots are occupied, you have to replace both? If this is true, this sounds good, as I am planning on replacing both slots so that each slot has 8gb of ram. Since I have 2 slots of course, this will amount to the maximum 16gb of ram. Do you need to setting up the new RAM manually after that or would the laptop would automatically read the new RAM so you could just directly use the laptop with upgraded RAM? My friend told me that he used to install ssd card and need to manually setting up his laptop in order to make it reads the new ssd card to work. I wonder if there is some similar step for RAM instalation after this point?
