Thanks for the heads up. I have a 2017 Sportster Super Low I'm going to be putting passenger pegs on. I just installed Vance & Hines straight shot slip ons. While I was in the neighborhood I was looking at the peg mounting area. The rear master cylinder has to come off, to get to that it looks like the exhaust pipe has to move a fair amount. The exhaust support is easy enough to take off - I don't think I'll need to loosen or remove the sprocket cover. However, the exhaust has a crossover pipe, so I'll have to pull all the heat shields and both pipes from the cylinder heads. I haven't found any how-to videos for the '17 Sportster on this, maybe I'll grab the GoPro and make one as I go.
Thanx for your time homie. Just to be clear the right passenger peg mounts with 2 bolts on the bottom on either side of the master cylinder AND one bolt on top totaling 3 correct ?
Chloe Norwood I don't have this Harley anymore, but the pegs are the ones with 3 holes. I don't remember the pattern. However in 14-17 the layout changed so if you're trying to save a buck or two And buying on eBay, I'd advise you to stay away. Use oem ones. I believe pre 2014 the rear master cylinder was different or something I can't remember
thank you for posting...but have to say Harley did this on purpose so they can make more money with people who don't want the hassle of installing the right side peg. What a stupid set up. I remember the days when you just throw the pegs on and done in 15 minutes. I have a 2014 48 and thats the only thing I hate about the bike. Installing the pegs. Bought some but haven't installed yet. Have had the 48 for 3 years now. And the pegs just sitting for 1 year waiting to be installed.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. On another video they mentioned something about removing oxygen pipes when talking about exhaust. Any ideas on what they are talking about? Cheers
Michael Mallison I no longer have a harley, I am not sure whAt they mean. It was a bit challenging to do this hence why I made. Video. I didn’t have to remove anything exhaust related. I had to remove the bolts to free up some room, but I don’t remember taking off the whole pipe
@@BlackGirafe100 finally got round to fitting pegs. After a few little challengers I found loosening off the rear foot brake pedal helped me get the casing into a position good enough so I could drop the exhaust hanger. My rear seat came yesterday so just fitted that. Total cost £70 for brackets, footpegs and seat. Not bad. I'm sure I'd be close to £200+ if Harley had supplied fitted them. Thank for your help.
hi mate really helpfull video I was trying to put mine on the other day but was a bit worried about the master cylinder with the brake pipe is it easy to remove and is there enough space as I don't want to burst the brake pipe
Darren Pilat not sure what you mean by brake pipe but I was able to wiggle everything slightly out of the way to install my pegs. No issues on my end. I was gentle though
depends the year of your bike man, i suggest check craigslist for a used pair or ebay for a knock off version. But be careful because on the ebay knock off ones, they wont work with a 2014+ 48 because of the way the rear master cylinder sits. That's something i noted when i was looking for a cheaper alternative because i didnt want to spend the $100 USD at my local Harley Dealer
Hi thanks for the reply and oh man hopefully you can get refunds cause the one I'm waiting on from eBay said it should fit 2014 and up models. It just. Reds to have 3 screw holes right for it to work with the cylinder ?
