Hey guys, John here with realtruck.com. Today I'm going to show you how to install the Recon LED running lights on this 2015 GMC Sierra Denali 2500. Okay guys, you can see here we've got everything out of the box. It comes with all the stuff you need to put these on your truck, comes with the wiring harnesses already pre-attached to the lights, so you don't have to worry about that, it comes with an instruction sheet, your clips to attach it and all of your wire connectors. Okay, now attaching these to the truck, there's a few different ways you can do it, it comes with these supply clip brackets that you put your lights on to, you screw these into the truck, it tells you how to do that in the instructions, but for our application today, what we're going to do is we're going to be using 3M double sided tape to attach our light bars to the truck.
However, this does not come with a kit. What you need to do is to go to your local hardware store or auto parts supply store and pick this up and this will work great for you. So, let's get this on the truck. Okay, so what we're going to do then is we're just going to start right here with our double sided tape and we're just going to run it along the edge here. Alright guys, so what we're going to do then is we're going to clean up the area here where we're going to be installing our light and what I'm going to do is I'm just going to use some isopropyl alcohol, clean this up really good and be able to put our light up on here, so let's get that all cleaned up now.
So what we've done then is we've went ahead started peeling back a little bit of our double sided tape, so that way we can get this started. And what we're going to do is we're just going to put it up on here, what we're going to be putting our light and hold it in place there and then just give it a little push to hold that in. 866-554-0581 Free shipping for orders over $100!

Well thank you for the quick replies. I enjoy the videos and made my purchases from recon due to the videos. Wish I saw the recon rear led brake light bar before I ordered my opt 7 or would've ordered that too. I just like Amber lights. Big trucking it ahaha.

I would have spliced into those wires, soldered them and used shrink tubing to waterproof the connections. Those clip on trailer connection tend to leak/corrode with time.

How wouls the double sided tape work on a truck that has the lower rockerpanels rhino lined?

Is that double sided tape going to be able to hold up in northern Illinois winters with snow, ice and salt getting all over that? I’d think you’d need to mount that some other way

I I’d the same thing but to my blinker of my 350 but why can’t my amber be on with might and act as a blinker as well ? I don’t care for the white light since that is not allowed in some cities

any idea of what wires i would connect to on my 2016 2500HD LTZ Silverado? my wife but the big rig ice for my truck and I didn't want to mess up. The wires are not the same as in your video and the Chevrolet headlights are way more complex and different than the GMC Sierra Denali and I don't want to prove every wire to try to figure it out any help you could be is appreciated thank you for making quality products

Sean Faulk I have done alot of searching and cannot locate a diagram for the lights. You could check at your local Chevy Dealership sometimes they will give you one. Otherwise the only alternative is to backprobe the connectors to find the one that is powered.

hey I have a 2014 silverado I am wanting to wire these light to my turn signals and dome lights and wiring directions you may help with or know of would be awesome cant seem to find easiest way to turn signals wiring

The best option would be to contact the manufacturer of the lights. Unfortunately, we do not have wiring diagrams or electricians to help with setting up your lights.

thanks I found it do to some google searching. For you other guys out there looking . There is a gray wire that plugs into bcm yellow harness or you can also find this wire in the drivers side trim piece at the a-pillar the gray wire controls the courtesy lights .

OMG JOHN !!! I wish you made this video two year ago with my first truck. I just sent you guys a message via FB if you could please find it and respond. I purchased a 2015 Silverado and bought the 62 inch recon amber/ice rig lights. where in hell do I hook up the ice lights ? so they kick on when the door opens ?

+Jonathan Cannella you have to find the trigger wire for the courtesy lights(dome). Not sure what color it is but it should be under the carpet riser. In case someone doesn't know that is the plastic cover on the floor that you see when you open the door. You will notice that with our new BIG RIG ICE Running Lights (part # 26413X & 26414X) there is an additional wire coming off each of the two bars. This white wire is your WHITE LED power wire and it must be connected to your dome light/cargo light. The simplest way to power this wire is to tap into the positive wire leading to either your dome light inside your cab or your cargo light which illuminates your trucks cargo bed…once connected the WHITE LEDs on your new BIG RIG ICE Running Lights will illuminate and are dominant over the amber LEDs. This means when the white LEDs are illuminated, the amber LEDs will turn off. The running light wire(yellow) and turn signal wire(red) will be connected in the same way that the standard Big Rig bar is installed. Please refer to those instructions if you need assistance with the other aspects of the install. If you cannot locate your positive dome light wire or your positive cargo light wire, please consult with your local truck dealer to find out where these wires can be found on your particular vehicle.

+Jonathan Cannella Wow sorry I didn't see this sooner. I hooked them into the courtesy lights inside the front door panels. The ones that light up on the door when you open it. Otherwise, you will have to track down the courtesy light wiring under the dash and wire into that.

When I put marker lights under my truck, I only wanted them to work with the courtesy lights. I traced the wire from the inside dome light down the left front pillar and tied it in there. I couldn't find it behind the fuse box, too many wires to test. Works great. For what you want to do, i'd probably use a relay.

Sean Faulk what wiring layout are you looking for? Just use a test light and find the turn signal hot wire and the parking light hot wire. If you need more help please call me. 877-216-5446

Very "COOL" I just spent some hours taking my grill out and headlights, one at a time. So, I can tap into the signal lights. They're all done, before dark. Now, Ground is grounded, Yellow is hooked up to each on their own side. [If I hook power from battery works but always power, signals work great sequence running very cool.] Says in the directions, hook power red to Parking Light?? I assume it's tapping into the center headlight? Any have an answer? I really don't know which wire to splice into. My truck is the 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi (And I don't have an underhood light, to splice into for that white wire, and or under the dash at mats location. Any smarties out there? Thanks in advance. Cool,.Truck buddy. (As mentioned just finished, Buddy that did this video, question there are 3-wires on the signal area. Black-White with blue stripe and white with brown stripe.) I guess I should have tapped into there other white wire getting power source off the signal wires? Fuzz (I guess if so, second trip is faster.) But, I don't know whee to lead this white wire, that comes off the lights.

Sorry just figured out what they're called T-tabs (vampire tabs) is their issues with moisture getting into the wires? Debating on going back to mine and heat shrinking it butt splice.

+underarock4524 you could do that or get some stuff called liquid electric tape and coat them good with that. Personally i like the butt splice/shrink wrap idea better though.

What size double sided tape did you use?

+Andrew Anderson 1/2 inch, but you could use 3/8 as well. The 1/2 is just what I already had in the shop.

Temperature fluctuations will effect 3m tape . Especially in the N.N.E. Regions. You can find that light bar in a pile of snow April when it melts

Are these DOT approved? Any problems with cops at night?

Jason, These are DOT/NHSTA approved lights. Now depending on your State, there may be other regulations that you would need to look into before purchasing any type of lights.

How did you know which wire is which?

Check with a repair shop or dealership or possibly even the internet and locate a wiring diagram for your specific vehicle. Another option is a Haynes Manual available at most Automotive parts stores.

+underarock4524 they are indeed. It is a completely sealed unit. That said I wouldn't back it in the lake and let them soak for an hour, but otherwise, under normal use and conditions they shouldn't have a problem.

how do you fix them when you want them on when you open the door?

don earl in order to do that you would have to wire it to your door trigger wire instead of your parking lights or I suppose you could wire it to both so that it works when the parking lights are on or the door is open. +ReactedGoose Gaming we actually did some stuff on a 2010. No smoke stacks. As long as I am the product installer you will never see me install stacks on a pick-up truck. Stacks are for heavy equipment, tractors, and semis.

With those clips what about moisture getting inside?

+underarock4524 If you mean in where they screw to the truck, I would put a small dab of silicone gasket sealer on the backside of the clip where it goes against the truck. That should keep water and such from seeping in around the screw holes.

I would not recommend using only tape to attach the lights remember if they fall off hit another car on the road you are 100 percent liable for all damages

Honestly...it looks ghetto. Reminds me of mods high school kids do. Lights should glow and show light but should not be directly seen. And double sided tape? Yeah maybe ok for a mall crawler but lots of dirt and pressure washing of the truck, it’s gonna eventually lose it
