It should pretty much fall out once you take the safety lever off. Maybe buildup from being dirty or rust or something like that is jamming it in place. If you haven't already, you could also try prying it out if you can get fit a tool under it like a screwdriver or similar.

@@Feldmutze it took awhile but i got it out. It was the side mount rivet preventing the retaining plate from being removed. Once i figured that out, i just had to pry the plate enough to get it over the rivet and it was free.

It helps to keep things from falling apart when you're changing out trigger components or the safety. Otherwise, nothing.

It’s also a lot easier to put this back than the paper clip retainer, you have to get it in an exact right spot and even then you have to really play with it to get it right, this is simple drop in, also gives you peace of mind knowing your whole trigger group isn’t being held together with a paper clip

I trust the beefiness of the retainer plate as well as installation more so than the shepherds hook.

Like the trigger is jammed

Ok after messing with the springs I freed it up.. very weird

mistake on my part but scary, The safety was stuck on fire and the trigger had no movement.. The safety was getting blocked by the hammer catch

What was the issue, did part of the spring get stuck under the retaining plate? I haven't heard of that happening before.

@@Feldmutze I didn’t take a photo but the safety was stuck and the trigger was jammed as well it was very odd. Like the little notch on the safety was hitting the trigger and it prevented the safety from freely moving. I wish I took a photo cause I’m not sure how I messed it up that bad. All I did was move the two springs on the side to relieve tension and was able to move it out the way.
