MAK 90 Rebuild Video 16 Retaining Plate Install 

I had the same issue with my MAK 90 safety when I went to install a Krebs enhanced safety selector. It was pretty easy to partially remove the trigger pin to buy the extra space to fully rotate the safety past the disconnector. Even if you end up deciding to fully remove the trigger, it’s not a big deal to reinstall it, just make very sure if any of you decide to go this route that you are very mindful of the spring between the trigger and disconnector that tensions the disconnector.

The “Hook” you we’re hitting with safety lever is part of the disconnector. Sometimes you can pull the trigger and it will allow a semi-auto safety selector lever to clear the disconnector. The safety selector interacts with the disconnector to prevent firing. On a full auto the safety lever holds the disconnector down and out of the way so the trigger doesn’t reset with each shot.

Having the same issue" Going to pull trigger pin back to create room for safety to clear. Thought i was the only bone head having problems ......LOL

Remove the pin holding the trigger then the safety will come right out. I was wrestling with the same issue just stepped back and figured it out. You should never file parts that are already fitted

I'm just curious why everyone feels it necessary to pull both hammer springs up when swapping out a retainer plate?? I mean of course you "nicely" release the hammer forward to release any tension, but after that??......Just wonderin' fellas???

You should not have filed your selector, what you have is a full automatic selector that you could have sold to a collector or to replace someone's legally owned full auto ak, or to just keep...Anyways what you should have done is just order another selector like the one with a notch for a bolt hold open, or just a surplus selector. for $12. I cant tell for certain but it looks like you have a full auto disconnect, the semi's usually don't have that extra metal that your selector was hitting on.

Instead of ruining the factory safety, why not just buy a replacement?

I can see why those ak-47s are rare bc you keep taking them apart and make it look stupid.
