Interesting fact: The guy who started Ring went on Shark Tank in 2013 to seek a $700,000 investment in the company, which he estimated was worth $7 million. Only Keven O'Leary was interested, but they could not agree on a deal. In 2018 Ring was sold to Amazon for estimated value of between $1.2 billion and $1.8 billion (estimate from Wikipedia).
P.S. Why wouldn't anyone what to used your affiliate link? You just showed folks how to install a doorbell with easy-to-understand instructions where some may have thought it was difficult to install! It's the least I can do to say, THANK YOU!
what is inside the power pack that allows enough voltage and current to be available at the Ring doorbell and why would it not work for the $39 dollar Ring direct?
Wish I had watched this before doing it myself :) but.. its all good. I’m binging your channel, and this is the second device you have installed, which I had installed, but could have benefitted from watching this first.
All of this is totally easy. Removing your doorbell, putting the Ring up, and connecting that battery to your chime. The software and app setup though, is complete garbage. I have tried everything and the damn thing does not connect to my phone or create a Ring wifi network.
Are there two screws in the bottom, one, need larger head, two needs smaller head? Do the screw(s) strip easily. Our builder hard-wired the ringer w/ camera. I cannot get the damn face plate off for set-up yet the doorbell chime rings - a result of the initial set-up of the front door unit?
I've struggling trying to install my Ring doorbell. Today I got a transformer but I'm not sure where should I put it. What is the wire that you put on chime on trans screw? I saw that the transformer only have 2 wires. Regards from Mexico, Thanks
you forgot to remove the plastic film that was placed on the unit over the camera to prevent scratching the lens during installation, if you didnt remove the plastic film you might want to go back and remove it, you will find the resolution and definition of the camera improves. lol
Hi… I’ve had my ring for about 3 months now. Recently seen issues with connectivity. I reset it however can’t seem to connect to the ring setup WiFi during the setup. Have you ever encountered this issue?
my chime was removed. can i tie those 2 wires( trans and front) together? im installing a 2nd generation ring doorbell and it does not need a power kit like yours?
So does the existing chime inside the house still "ding-dong" when the button is pressed? I'm guessing yes, but getting conflicting answers on this. Thanks.
Yes it makes a sound on your phone. You can also choose if you want it to notify you with a noise or just a banner notification or not at all in your settings. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Didn’t help me got some reason mine will not link to my WiFi yet my ringer ans doorbell all work but I can’t ever get it to upload o factory reset it as well. It simple blinks white constantly
My existing doorbell is mounted to brick. I don't want to drill out new holes. Do they make a base plate that lets me take advantage of the existing holes and that plate will let me mount the Ring mounting plate to it?
Thank you love your videos as usual I am looking into purchase one but when my kitchen was renovated my door bell don't work anymore so I may have to get an electrician to run new wires or get a wireless one 💙
Another nice detailed video. I remember the video from the first install. Curious, why Ring, versus Nest Hello? PS: Am still triggered by the door handle :) (Just kidding)...
I've honestly thought of getting the Ring system. Just got my first iPhone this year, and now I can get the doorbell and follow your step-by-step instructions to install it. Will let you know how I make out. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes to you and the family.
Does the transformer only have to be 16V? I saw that some are saying you also need a minimum of 30VA. I have the same transformer rating as you (16V 10 VA) and just wanted to see if you had any issues. Other than that, great video!
I love and respect your stuff, but ring doorbells collect so much personal data. Please be careful, and read into the privacy and security concerns with this line of products. People choose comfort over security/privacy, which is concerning. There's some very good videos on this topic out there. Stay safe
Don't get me wrong, I still hope that people support The Fixer. I just don't want to encourage even more mass data collection/mass surveillance. Especially not from Amazon and such. It's not healthy. "Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say." -Edward Snowden
@@ValentijnEnJack First, you don't have to let Ring/Amazon collect any data if you are not concerned about keeping history and only want a live view. Second, this is on the outside of the house, not indoors. Third, the videos they store are for your use only, and Ring/Amazon does not use the video history. I have a Ring doorbell on the front and rear of my home, and pay $3 per month per unit (or $10 a month for unlimited units including regular video cameras) to store the videos (which are collected when the motion detector sees something that you may want to record). There is an ability to customize the field of view that sets off the motion detector to very specific parts of the camera view that is user defined. I agree that there are a lot of security and privacy concerns on the Internet, but I honestly do not think this is one of them.
@@mark9118 I won't advertise other channels here, since I really respect this content creator, but you might want to look into it, by the looks of it. There's a video out there that explains what I'm trying to say more deeply/clearly. But you don't need to if you don't want to. Have a good one, and thanks for the feedback! I respect it
RING DOORBELL SUCKS. KEEPS GOING OFFLINE! Yes, I have brought and added everything that RING has told me to buy! Hardwire my doorbell and after 8 months it tells me I need to charge the battery!! I have motion detection from Ring on both sides of my home & they keep going offline as well! I have been fighting with RING ever since I bought the whole freaking System! I would never recommend this product to anyone!! I will be looking into a NEW system!
