you gave good advice. Astro rivet attachment IS NOT meant for impact. You will destroy the gears in the rivet adapter. Not to mention under load your 1/4" impact driver will kick-in and knock causing missaligned or bad/distorted rivet settings. I tried using my snap-on impact driver and decimated every rivet and tore up the astro shank assembly. Luckily I was able to return it within the 2nd used week I had it. The astro ADR14XL is amazing with the right drill NON IMPACT. And loads cheaper than an electric or air powered riveter. Dollar for dollar The Astro attachment is hands down a must have for all riveting and my go to. For a smaller footprint it also works with Snap-ons 14.4v 1/4" screwdriver but wouldn't recommend for daily use. It puts a strain on it and gripping is an issue under heavy load

You have all the cool tools Steve. I have a small set of nut plates and rivets with a manual tool, but I like that one for when you have limited access...or you just get lazy. :)

I now have to have this in my tool collection. I have the same Dewalt drill set so that’s good to know about the vibrations you’d might experience if you use the impact. Just saw your vid on the rivet nut version of this tool and had to check outtake link to this one too. Portability, compact and ease of use makes this tool perfect for my needs. Thanks for the review I wanted to get the thread cert version of that but I don’t use rivets enough to justify the 100 bucks I found so many uses for the threaded versions of the rivets. That’s a lot of rivets

never seen the ADR14 XL....looks interesting....I have never seen the plastic rivets either....I can think of a few places I could try them....I`m off to amazon to look for them....the Revit installer ...I will consider in the future....have to make someplace in the garage....CHEERS

Those 1/4 rivets are used on window regulators a lot. Looks like a good tool to have.

Nice, I use a small hand riveter but it's only good with aluminum rivets.

After a lifetime of HD Logging equip repairs,etc in retirement I said to myself "NO MORE TOOLS" 50K is enough. Now I am going to source one of these beauties. Sheesh ! ! !

"a 20V tool, or at least an 18V"... 20V and 18V tools are the same. Dewalt and the other few 'special' brands like to state the charged voltage rather than the nominal voltage. They are all 5 x 3.6V (nominal) battery cells in series. (larger capacity versions are 2 parallel banks of 5 cells in series).

Good stuff. I don't use rivets too much so I just have a hand gun. If you have to do a bunch of rivets that would save on the old hand.

How's she goin'? I never saw a tool like that before!! I see one advantage right off the get go, it has a slender end for getting into tight spots. With the rivet gun I have for pop rivets, you have to have a lot of open area around the rivet to get at it. I'm looking forward to seeing your project where you will use this!!! Take care!!!

More tools in the Steve Rob shop. I don't use rivets much but I could see if someone does that tool is handy.

What do you build with rivets? I been watching on amazon for a while it’s under a 100 now was over that a little. I bought a tack life rivet nut kit for a great price. Of course it’s easy to forget to get the bolts that screw into them. I use riv nuts inside of vans and interior of vehicles. My truck toolbox across the bed is held by nut insert riv nuts holds it on good and easy to take off with a drill.

Does it work for huck rivets?

I have just bought one of these. Setting the rivet is great but getting the shank out not so good. Despite back winding to the point where the mandrel grips start clicking it does not release and it needs a 2nd person with a vice grip to get the shank out. Is there a way of correcting this?
