I've been using attachment for concrete mixing with smaller dewalt drill and i was also pushing it to sides even though i know it's probably not good for it. Many years later the drill still works well.
@jeffreyparker9396
@jeffreyparker9396 5 месяцев назад
@@XXLczethe point is that it would cause the bearings to wear out faster, not necessarily that it would cause them to wear out in a very short time. The amount of time that it will take to wear out depends on many factors including the quality of the bearings and the amount of force and how long that force is applied and more. So, yes with a good drill you can still get many years of use when doing things like that, but at least specifically for the bearings you would get even longer use by avoiding that. For the higher quality drills it might not even matter, and you might end up with a completely different failure before the bearings, but the warning is still valid especially for products like these where they are targeted at people who are trying to save money, which would typically mean that they have a cheaper drill.

i've cut a lot of sheet metal. the midwest snips are the best bang for your buck, especially for trim work. if you want a perfect cut, do not fully close the snips - the ends tend to create a jagged edge that way. i am definitely interested in that malco attachment for the drill and will be buying one after christmas.

After my father left the Marines, he did work as a roofer, plumber, and as a cable guy. He was also the type to repair his motorcycle himself, so he had _a lot_ of tools. One of the things that he always told me is that the right tool for the job makes the job quick and easy. This video just emphasizes that a drill should be used as a drill and any attachment that requires you change the rotational movement to use should be avoided. Thanks for the vid!

I've seen the drill brush attachments for awhile on auto detailing channels, they're terrific for cleaning seats, carpets, floor mats, trunk carpet, and even headliners (if you don't press hard). They can remove a lot of ground in dirt and make a frothy soapy mess that's easy to vacuum or wipe up, leaving behind cleaner upholstery than when you started. Of course steam extraction is probably the best way, but with the price of those units it's tough to swallow. Thanks for the deep dive into drill attachments and I'll definitely be picking up the water pump, large auger bit, and maybe even the deburring tool!

Aldi has steamers for $20 sometimes with the little hose, a knockoff of the Bissel. Bissel has one commonly for $35 as well with a small hose as well. You don't need the $130+ dollar steamer for autodetailing unless you're doing it professionally. I also have the drill brush from the "Drill Brush" brand and I would recommend the soft and medium firmness brushes of multiple shapes and sizes.

Wife bought one of brushes out of curiosity for upholstery and if you do any cleaning on your car and have a drill it's a no brainer to buy these. For x-mas I bought a more complete set, can't remember the brand though.

I have that exact drill pump. I recommend using the lubricant that comes from the plumbing department, used for lubricating faucet cartridges, because it is meant for use with water. Also, the drill had to be set to operate in reverse to actually pump water. EDIT: I almost forgot. It will be easier to work this pump if the pump is fastened to a piece of wood via the mounting flanges. This even allows for labeling the intake and output in large lettering on the wood.

Got one of those external champher tools for some production work (cleaning up hundreds of 1/4 stainless rods) and gotta say, it works great! The key is slower speed. Unlike an internal champher tool that centers itself, this one actively tries to climb off the end. Slower speed makes it more manageable and will yield very clean results. Also since it is basically a cup, it will fill up with bits of metal, so it's better to use it horizontally, or better yet shank side up.

00:00 🔪 Drill attachments offer versatile alternatives to standalone tools at lower costs. 00:29 🌲 Chainsaw drill attachment cuts 2x4 in 3.3 seconds on average, efficient but light-duty. 01:23 🛠 Metal cutting attachment works well for aluminum but leaves a wrinkled edge. 02:34 ✂ Aviation snips for metal flashing give smooth, efficient cuts with minimal effort. 03:32 🔩 Comparing drill-powered cutters for 20 gauge metal: Midwest (clean cut), Malco (slightly better quality). 04:16 🪚 Circular saw attachment (under $20) delivers sketchy, vibrating cuts on wood. 05:12 🔄 Reciprocating saw attachment struggles with blade retention, poor quality for wood and metal cutting. 06:21 🔨 Multiple rust removal attachments: flat brush (slow), Roto stripper (damages wood), Milwaukee sander (effective). 09:17 🌀 Auger drill bits vary in effectiveness, with smaller ones performing well and larger ones struggling in dry, hard ground. 10:30 🌊 Drill pump moves close to 500 gallons per hour, suitable for various tasks but not built to last. 11:30 🛠 Chamfer deburring tool effectively removes sharp edges, facilitating easier nut threading. 12:12 🪚 Cutting wheel set offers varied blades, but control is challenging, especially for PVC pipes. 13:08 🧼 Scrub brush and drill brush set show differences in cleaning efficiency, with the latter performing impressively for its price.

That tool you used on the plumbing pipe is actually for finished plumbing. I install shower drains and some other plumbing. It’s meant to be used on fully installed and glued up plumbing. Example: if you have a stub out for a shower drain, you stick that in to cut out so your shower flange sits where it’s supposed to. It’s not meant to cut pipe just loose.

Re: RotoStripper I found one to be indispensable after trying to strip multiple layers of old very hard marine paint off a non-flat surface. All my paint stripping wheels, flap discs, sanders would dull, or wear out clog in minutes. My neighbour handed me the RotoStripper to try. At the right speed it shattered the hard old paint right off, leaving just the wood. It did lose some wires so glasses are recommended. It lost a lot of wires before I was done so I searched all over town to find a second one, which I still hang onto. I found another good use for it too, pock marking metal as a finishing touch.

I would love to see a comparasion test of snow chains. The prices and quality of these varies a lot and a "in depth" test would be real useful! I guess you can set up a rig with a torque meausering device connected to a carwheel, with representative pressure down to an icy surface (some kind of a mould you store in your freezer the size of the contactpoint of a tire etc). If you could do a live test with your car, it would also be perfect. Both braking distance and pull force (grip) on both dirt and ice (if there is any snow and ice where you live:). Torture test of the chains must of course also be an important part of the test. Thanks you for one of RU-vids best, serious and most useful content!

It’s never squeaked before he changed the serpentine belt and now it does every time I start my car. I imagine my mechanic is right that my car is perfectly fine? That as long as the belt doesn’t continually squeal, it’s not going to do any harm? Or is the squeal a sign of incorrect torque in the belt?

@@ProjectFarm Warning! Take this seriously if you do that test, and enlighten people about the risk! It is easy to break your thumb joints or even rip your thumbs off with those (ice) augers if clothing or gloves gets stuck in rotating parts, the drill is powerful and you have bad gear! Some ice fishers have lost both of their thumbs this way. It's a rather common injury taken into account the amount of people having this setup. You can add a some kind of protection plate to the drill to prevent your clothing getting tangled to rotating parts. That being said, in Finland some quality powerful drills are commonly sold as a set with ice augers for ice fishers.

Ground augers are legit. I've never tried anything larger in diameter than 3 inches with a hand drill though. You want to go slow speed and keep the bit free. Don't let the bit thread into the ground. Keep it scraping and clearing the dirt out of the hole. Being as you're not going to break through to the other side you have to use a different strategy than say drilling wood. I don't have any rocks to contend with here either. I imagine hitting a rock with one of those drills is pretty bad.

I found that helping it up helped a lot.
