Tried this today, got the new side mirror installed. I was annoyed I was going to have to pull the whole door panel off as I've had to do that to a Hyundai Genesis sedan I used to own for both a window regulator AND the side mirror. Thanks for the helpful tip.
Thank you so much! Your tutorial was easy to follow, understand, and execute! I did my side mirror in about 10 minutes. Awesome tutorial!!! (I have a 2013 Corolla)
My car got side swiped & my side view mirror was destroyed. Checked out your video, followed your directions & success! It was certainly easy. It took me 10 minutes total & I made the repair in a parking lot while my wife was seeing the eye doctor. Thanks for making this video. Now I can see! My mirror only costs $28 including shipping & I saved money by doing it myself.
If it wasn't was for your video I would have had to have a mechanic do this for over $150.00 + mirror. We bought an OEM Toyota mirror online for half of what Toyota charged so check online first. As you say, you don't need to remove the door panel which makes this so much easier. The only tricky part is getting your hand down far enough to remove the cable from the clip and then get the new cable back into the clip. Not that hard. We reused the mirror back from the old mirror to the new mirror. You should watch some videos on removing a mirror back. You don't want to break the tabs getting it off. Mine popped off with not to much effort with a small flat head screw driver wrapping the end with a thin piece of electrical tape and a trim removal tool (found a set online for $7.00). Once I had the back off I put a bit of petroleum jelly on the tabs in case it has to come off again. The old mirror back snapped right on to the back of the new mirror, no problem. Thanks John for this great video!!!!!
@@jklivinlife Due to an accident I lost just a mirror and the back which is colored grey metallic as my car. Do you have an idea where I can find theses two parts not expensive? My Mecanicien told me 100$ just to paint the back parts!!!! My system is with motor and heat. And if its easy to place the front and the mirror it will be easy and better to change all the system and less expensive I think. Isn't it?
@@mohamedbenallal7465 I got mine at carparts.com Both mirrors cost me about $60 and they were all black. I got both since my car is blue. Now I have 2 black mirrors that match. Good Luck!
Quick note, if you remove the one screw at the door handle it would give you a lot more room behind the door panel. This makes it easier to get both hands to reconnect the mirror wire... or fish out dropped screws :)
I used the quick tip of taking the screw out behind the door handle and it gave me more room. I also had my daughter watch your video (since she’s the one who hit a mailbox knocking the mirror off) and we were able to do this in 10-15 minutes. Thank you both!
@@jklivinlife My mom knocked off her passenger side mirror and your easy walkthrough really made it simple. Happy mother and I continue to be the favorite son.
