For more information on yellowblue, our Solar Powered Attic Fans, and other energy saving products, please visit yellowbluetech.com.
This video goes over some key features of our yellowblue Solar Attic Fan. In addition, Dennis Grubb shows how to install the Solar Powered Attic Fan fan from A to Z.
All yellowblue Solar Powered Attic Fans are fully functional right out of the box. The fan blade will begin to operate as soon as it is exposed to the sun. Please keep hands and tools away from the blade during the installation. Always use caution when using tools and walking on roofs when installing Solar Powered Attic Fans. Do not cut any structural members in the house.
When determining the location the Solar Attic Fan, try to find a location on the south side of the roof and consider potential problems such as shading from large objects. Installation of the yellowblue Solar Attic Fan should be centered on the roof. The center of the Solar Attic Fan should be about 2 feet down from roof ridge for maximum performance.

*Well-made, delivered quickly, and easy to install with **Fastly.Cool** . I may be imagining it, but it seems quieter than the 14 year-old unit that I pulled out. Of course it was noisy at the end due to failed bearings, so hard to compare.*

You should have it installed over the tar or underlayment paper. You must not drill screws through shingles. It will leak couple years later. You also need to leave at least 1/2 inch clearance around the top flange by trimming the shingles. Then you calk underneath the shingles. Besides that, great installation. haha
@jrgudac
@jrgudac 3 года назад
This^ Plus using a Sawzall to sideways cut through your nails!? This is so stupid and risky of cutting into your tar paper or shingles. Pry up your nails and either replace them after in the same holes (with some sealant) or seal the holes and move on. Mine came with two templates so I used one inside to ensure I was centering and one outside. I lined them both up and put a nail through them first. This ensured that where I placed the template was exactly where my hole was going to be on the outside. This will save you the step of measuring for a center dot. The flashing on this unit sucks and for that alone, IO would not buy this model. It should have some flat flashing around the outside. I'd bet money if this guy installs this way on real roofs, it leaks often.
@navyretired230
@navyretired230 3 года назад
100% agreed, never cut the underlayment. There are some great sealants now that are rated at 180F. No screws thru shingles, try to lift them and put a couple under the shingles, seal the screws before final tightening.

My house was built in 1889 when i bought it, it had it's second roof on it. Composition over shake there were no vents. When i re roofed it i put a thermal attic fan on the west side. Now the attic is cooler in the summer. I dont have central air, no ducting. I have fans. One ceiling fan one floor fan. No moisture and no mold anywhere. The only insuation is in the roof. And a pellet stove works to keep it warm.

Actually should leave bottom part of flashing exposed to keep rainwater from backing up and getting trapped under the shingles and then just seal around the shingles you lifted up.
@BC-ni3sk
@BC-ni3sk 3 года назад
You do note want to install screws through the shingles! Putting caulk on the screw heads won't help as it will cook off in the sun and then leak! You also don't want to put the piece of shingle on the bottom that is a dam for water, leave it off to let the water run off.

@Getsolarise
@Getsolarise 11 лет назад
People never never cut the nails between the shingles with a sawzall. You will tear the felt. Remove all nail within the flange area. Also all flashing should have 1/2 valley around where the flashing and flange meet. Then if you want you can seal the shingles to the flange. Also that vanity shingle is a waste and will only cause debri to build up. The fan looks like a good system other than the plastic fan blade but the installation was horrible. This guy is definitely not a roofer.

How about a simple pricing guide, when I see a product that shows great potential then you have to play Marco polo to just get at the price of the thing, I immediately suspect an upsell High-pressure system in place. How many potential customers have you lost due to the fact you can not put a straight forward pricing guid on the sight? Most independent do it yourself home owners and small contractors do not want to talk to a sales rep unless it is to get a product serviced that has failed for some reason or to get an occasional Tec aspect as needed. Food for though. From an almost customer!.

This panel can put out close to 100 watts ru-vid.comUgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle.The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts.If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.

No offense, but if your home heating is affected by heat escaping into your attic .. ... you're likely WAYYYYYYYY' UNDER INSULATED. Your attic is literally pieces of wood. ie: rafters and sheeting. Topped with a shingle of choosing. None of these are heat or cooling savings. I'm in Texas. My attic is insulated with literally drifts of insulation. Topped out the insulation "ruler" straps. Easily plus R-55. My roofs only job is to keep water out of what lies below it.
@jefflayton4339
@jefflayton4339 2 года назад
@@jamiecampbell3068 While that's true, the rate of heat flow through insulation is affected by the temperature differential. Insulation, even R-55, is more effective when separating smaller temperature differences. That's why cooling your attic is good during the summer and keeping it warm during the winter is beneficial. Warming is coming from sun hitting the (typically dark) shingles and conducting through as much as it is heat coming up through the ceiling.
@jamiecampbell3068
@jamiecampbell3068 2 года назад
@@jefflayton4339 ????? ".. heat flow thru insulation" ??? What. There is no heat flow thru insulation. If there was, it wouldn't be "insulation". You're insulated from temperatures. Hence the definition of. Owens Corning certified HVAC & construction contractor. I have no idea what your statement means .. other than, it makes no sense. Insulating your home is to ensure adequate control of what your thermostat reads. If you have ANY temperature "flow" from outside of your living space ... then you're not properly insulated. Period. The end.
