How to Install Teradek ACI MDR RED DSMC2

I purchased the MDR.ACI in order to make my RED cameras functionality similar to ARRI. ARRI cameras are probably the most rented in my market. Because of that the camera assistants are more familiar with those builds. The MDR.ACI installed on the side of the camera simplifies their prep considerably. The side interface comes in super handy to adjust settings when the camera is on a gimbal or camera arm when a monitor may not be connected. The feedback from the camera assistants has been overwhelmingly positive with a few “I wish everyone who had a RED did this” thrown in. If your camera is a RED then IMHO this is the way to go. However you are locked into this system for this camera only if you wanted to move it to a Canon or some other camera you can’t do that where the MDR.x allows for portability. @@VisionBridgeMedia This definitely helps me with my decision in going forward with this aci. I wish it ran off the side io though to minimize cables but not a deal breaker for what benefits you explained get from it. Thank you for your descriptive answer, really helps!

@@VisionBridgeMedia Do the Assistant Camera all work with a Teradek Wireless follow focus or does the MDR.ACI pair with any wireless follow focus?

That is the WC top plate. It has the RED EVF connection. It isn’t SDI.
