My fireplace came with the knockouts missing on lower sides and the 8” knockouts for the gravity vents were out. Problem is I’m using the traditional vented facade. Why are these knockouts already punched out? Is this normal?

Thanks for the video. Do you need to install cement board inside the chase? On the walls and flooring for this unit?

Thank you for watching! Great question. Each unit has different clearances listed in their respective manuals. For this specific unit the manual says that approximately 40" wide and 55" high should be constructed with metal studs and cement board (or other non-combustible material). If you have the manual, you can reference this on pages 12-13.

That’s bc it is a clean face fireplace. Other high efficiency fireplace/stoves will have the “vents/grills” on the front of face of the fireplace. It’s all about what is more important to the home owner. A clean face? Or vents on the side?
