How to install the Bosch Drain Hose Accessory Kit for Bosch Heat Pump Dryers

Today, I'll show you how to install the drain accessory kit for the bosch range of heat pump dryers.
To me, this is a must-do requirement. Having to empty that water reservoir after every load is a real pain, not to mention just how bad the design of that thing is.
Did anyone at Bosch actually try to empty that thing before unleashing it onto the public??
I hope this video helps you out. Let me know how you went in the comments below and what you thought about the water reservoir design.
Did you hate it as much as I did??
Please consider subscribing for more and I'll see you for the next video.

Hi Yoram. Watch the updated video to see a step that was missed in the video you watched. I blame a badly written manual. As far as water remaining in the Water Container, don't worry about that so much. The dryer uses stored water to help with drying, which is why they are so efficient. Once you complete the missing step, just let the dryer do its thing. It will drain the water once it needs to. Thanks for the support. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EffLceEMdyQ.html

Hi, nice and easy to follow video, do you know if this means it cannot do the self clean now or is that why there is still water in the reservoir and this hose is the final output after the clean cycle?
@JustAwesomeCommercials

Hi Russell. This change will not affect the self cleaning cycle. Because the dryer uses water to help with the drying process (which is what makes it so power efficient), it will always leave some water in the water container. Hi great video as I am just about to buy a Bosch heat pump dryer. Does the drain hose still work ok if the dryer is stacked on top of the washing machine? Maybe the outlet at the bottom of the machine is too high?. Appreciate a reply. Thanks
@JustAwesomeCommercials
@JustAwesomeCommercials 2 года назад
Hey Novolava. A couple of people who seem to have had trouble with the drain hose working did in fact have the dryer on top of the washing machine. There are recommended height limits for connecting the hose to the laundry sink/drain. You can always give it a go and if it doesn't work or you can't find a solution, just go back to emptying the water container manually. Best of luck.

Hey there. So.... if you didn't want to do that (and continue to empty out the drawer/tank), you'd leave the black hose (that you removed and put into the parking bay) in its place. I.e. where it originally was in your video? My mum is struggling with hers, as the tank isn't filling with water, and it was making the floor wet. I think the (black) hose was removed when someone shifted the dryer across rooms. Thanks.

ive just gotten a bosch serie 6 dryer and was wondering is the steps in this video optional? can i just leave the hose to empty water into the condensation contanier and i can empty it after each load so i dont have to position the dryer by a sink? its not clear in the manual if its better to allow it to drain or if its okay to not drain it and manually empty it. also do you not have to empty the condensation container if the drain hose is connected? or just less frequently?

@JustAwesomeCommercials
@JustAwesomeCommercials 2 года назад
Hey @Plate. If you already have the nozzle used up with your washer, maybe you could rig up something to use as a T or Y adapter and get both hoses connected. You should be able to find something to do the job at your local Hardware store. It would make for a great project. Best of luck. On your exact question though, you could probably use the existing hose as the Water Storage Unit would no longer use it. Make sure you have removed the plug from underneath the Water Storage Container. Watch my updated video on the subject. Cheers.

Hi Andrew, Great video. The only problem is, like Asim in the comments, I have a Series 8. I have looked on the Bosch website for a compatible drain hose kit, and apparently there is none. Surely this is not the case. I will call them tomorrow, seeing as today is a public holiday, and see what they have to say. I wonder what the packaging on the kit you used says. Surely, it would be compatible for all their heat pump dryers. I'm so disappointed.

Thanks for the video, installed the hose no problem but first load we did still filled the drawer container. Am thinking of shortening the hose as right next to sink, any suggestions?
@JustAwesomeCommercials
@JustAwesomeCommercials 2 года назад
Hey ozcobbler1. Shortening the hose shouldn't make any difference regarding the water going to the water container instead of through the outlet hose. I know the dryer uses the collected water to help with drying, but I'd have to look up whether that water is held in the container or somewhere else within the dryer itself. I would have guessed somewhere else. I'll have to do some investigating. Anyways, if you installed the hose, it should have just worked. Don't know what to suggest for you. Good luck. I'll update my message if I find out anything more. Cheers.

@JustAwesomeCommercials
@JustAwesomeCommercials 2 года назад
Hey ozcobbler1. I ended up ringing Bosch to get a solution to your question and this is what I've found out. There is only one place that the water gets held and that is in the water reservoir. (nothing within the body of the dryer) The dryer DOES NOT use the water for additional heating as I read somewhere, but uses a compressor to collect and reheat the hot air already circulating. This is what makes it so efficient. Lastly, there will always be some leftover water in the water container. If there is not enough water in the container to warrant draining it, it won't drain. As you mentioned in your previous post, just run it again and try and watch the lest 5 minutes of the drying cycle to see whether it pumps the water out or not. If it doesn't and the container is full, then you have a fault and need to book a service call while under warranty. Best of luck.

The back of it looks very similar except the hoses (2) are inside, one black, and the other is grey and ribbed because of this I am not sure which hose I need to add the kit too. :(
@JustAwesomeCommercials
@JustAwesomeCommercials 2 года назад
Hi Aasim. The grey ribbed hose should be the external hose that connects to your sink and the smooth hose is the original hose for the water container. I'd certainly suggest looking at the manual to get the correct process. It's frustrating that they make them (and name them) differently for different parts of the world. I hope you can get it sorted.

@@aasimmuhammad6730 Hello Aasim. I'll give you a link to my updated video on the process of connecting the hose. The manual is poorly written and I missed a step in the video you watched. After completing the extra steps, don't worry so much if there is still water left in the container. The dryer uses water to help with the drying process, so will leave some in for the next wash. @@JustAwesomeCommercials thanks for the link. I actually found that video also during my initial search. So I question before I literally open the water reservoir. The reservoir seems to have two chambers. The large main chamber that holds the water, and a smaller chamber where the tiny hole is located in the bottom for the draining. Inside they are sectioned off (almost) completely. It seems as if the water in the reservoir needs to fill almost all the way before spilling over into the small chamber before it starts draining. I couldn't tell if it was the same for you. Is this something you can confirm?
@JustAwesomeCommercials
@JustAwesomeCommercials 2 года назад
@@aasimmuhammad6730 I can't confirm how the internal baffles are set out, but yes, I can confirm that the water container is meant to have at least a certain amount of water in it to help with the drying process. Sometimes at the end of a drying session, my water container is almost full, but it will then empty itself as required during the next drying session. It's meant to work that way.

Hi Mari. Unfortunately, l have missed a step in the process, which I will be recording and uploading today. You need to make some changes to the Water Reservoir. @@JustAwesomeCommercials thank you. @JustAwesomeCommercials
@JustAwesomeCommercials 2 года назад
@@MariMartinez-gz6xp Hi Mari. The blue filter gets removed as part of the drain hose install. Technically speaking, your water reservoir cannot fill up if the plug has been removed as the water will drain through that hole. @@MariMartinez-gz6xp Hi Mari. I've just had another look at the manual and it does say to have the drainage hose going up from between 80 to 100cm. Maybe that's the issue?
