Yeah, I agree. A setup like this is a super nice option to have, if one's on a trip or so. Aesthetically, clean handlebars are the way to go and it's also good to sometimes just enjoy the ride and not have a phone in the face :D

That's an amazing bike. Would love to test ride one of the KTM adventure bikes one day. How do you like it? That's a good choice. The wireless head makes it very tidy because the cable can be connected permanently but it's also quite a bit bulkier. Maybe they'll have a black Friday deal.

@@MotoWrenchers Monster bike Lots of power, excellent suspension, fun to ride, be it on Twisties or straight highway. The bike do like to rev a little higher, or else it will shake a lot, at 120kph highway speeds, I need to use the 5th gear, the 6th would be too low down the rpm range to be comfortable for my taste. Again, beast of a bike.

Yeah I can imagine. It's similar on my SMC 690. But I probably don't travel as far as you on the bike so it's not too big of a deal. One day...looking forward to trying one of them. Ride safe 👊✊✊

Good job! :) I never used velcro on a bike but that seems like a very nice addition to the tool box. Especially now, when it comes to wiring. Thanks for the tip :) That will go onto my list of rather unconventional but very helpful tools (for a future series). Do you have any other unusual tools that are super helpful? My favorite in this category is the syringe. An absolute life saver when it comes to refilling the front break system. @@MotoWrenchers Good Morning. We used velcro exclusively in the data industry for cable management. I am of course speaking of the velcro that has the hook and loop on the same tape (not the separate hook tape and loop tape that our mums used on our knickers :) . Primary advantages are that it is stronger than the smaller cable zip ties and even more UV resistant, completely weatherproof and infinitely adjustable and reusable, also will not chafe or pinch wires. AT-205 Re-Seal was made for the automotive industry as an oil additive to help rejuvenate oil seals and was used as an oil additive, has the consistency of water and can be applied directly to old rubber parts on our bikes to help rejuvenate, rubber grommets, fork gators and the like. Works a treat too! I have been on this planet longer that your dad and have picked up many different tools and tips and will gladly share whatever I know for your build.

Using a syringe to help bleed the brakes is very useful especially on the smaller brake cylinders used on our motorcycles....Great tip!

Nice, I'll definitely pick some AT-205 up if I'll find some. I definitely have a few parts on the BMW that could use a rejuvenating treatment. Would be awesome to reuse a few of those. Thanks a lot :)

@@MotoWrenchers I bought mine on Amazon, here in the states. If you have any trouble finding, let me know and I will ship you a bottle ( No affiliation and I am not a dealer). Application can be a simple as a small cotton cloth or even a small spritz bottle.

Hi Chris, thank you very much for the feedback 🙏 I unfortunately didn't have a chance to try the set up in real life yet because the BMW is still in the making but I've contacted @OptiMate1 and asked them for an answer. As soon as I know more I'll let you know. Are you also thinking about getting the Quadlock system?

I already have exactly the same setup as you have, but running in that issue by using the GPS during a sunny day-ride with fully display brightness on. to me, it seems that the optimate provides too less power to charge my iPhone through the quad lock wireless adapter. so, I'm waiting to hear what your experiences are in real riding... but you can make a test for your own: let your smart phone drop down to approx. 15% state of charge > hook it up on the wireless charger > choose a route on your GPS and press start > turn on your display brightness to max manually > watch out for about half an hour, and see what's happening to your batteries percentage... I would appreciate your feedback very much!!

@@icmz73 Hi Chris, sorry for the delay in this but heard you had a question! To answer your question, YES it will work! The O-108KIT will charge at 3.3A which should be more than enough to maintain and increase your battery state of charge while riding with everything on the phone turned up.

Ah that's a shame. I'm traveling at the moment but will be back in October and will run your test once I'm back home. Once I know how how it turns out, I'll let you know :)

I am planning to build a bracket for the speedo that will place it in the center of the handlebars. Having the phone on the side seemed to me like the best solution to still see both. But you could also place it in the middle which would probably make it easier to see the navigation on the phone. Do you also have a quadlock system, George?

​@MotoWrenchers I mean to install the phone charger that you have to dismantle the bike and wire it to the bikes Battery in order for it to work would be so much better to attach to handle bar plug and play instead of all that faff

@CoasterRob ah yeah, you’re absolutely right. If you have a handlebar plug then that is the much easier solution.
