So how'd it look after?.... My mini has been a nightmare with uneven extrusion? Did this upgrade improve print quality?

Question: would it make more sense to put the Copperhead all the way up and change the position of the Super PINDA to allow for proper Z-Offset? Why or why not?
@TheEdgeofTech
@TheEdgeofTech Год назад
I definitely could make sense. In the moment of filming this, I thought I had pushed it up too high. I reached out to Slice to see what their official answer is. I thought it was supposed to sit just like the stock one.

Thanks for this video - super helpful. But like many others have mentioned, moving the hotend downward after loosening the 3 grub screws is not a good move, as it could create a gap between end of PTFE tube and nozzle, etc. Here's another solution that worked for me and allowed me to keep the hotend inserted all the way up: Use the Move Axis menu option to move the Z height to zero, then click "Disable steppers", then with your fingers turn the center bolt of the z-axis manually until the nozzle just barely touches the bed. At that point, adjust the PINDA probe to be slightly higher than the nozzle, then run calibrations. Then you should be able to do a normal first layer calibration and have z-values comfortably between 0.00 and -2.00.

Yes really. Slice engineering doesn't either. When I messaged them about it they linked to proceeedures for the prusa 3s instead. Post install I've had nothing but headaches. No bed adhesion, stringing, oozing.

Good video. I'm glad there are more "plug-in" options for the Mini now, but I still prefer the Revo over the Copperhead in this use case. Still too much PTFE in the filament path with the Copperhead, which is where my pain point on the stock Mini hotend is. The Revo eliminated that issue. In my use, the Revo not only prints better than stock, but I haven't had a single clog since I installed it many months ago. That being said, I love the Copperhead I put on my CR10S Pro V2. It's been a rockstar.

We should all be so lucky to have the heater come out so easily. I had to pry a flat head screwdriver into the slit in the front of the heater block to spread it open enough to get mine out.

The revo micro is the way to go with the mm 10 extruder upgrade it gets gid of most of the ptfe tubes and no clogs and the best prints you can get from a prusa mini.

I have been rocking a copperhead on my Prusa mini for well over a year now and zero clogs since switching. It is a great upgrade. I paired mine with a micro Swiss a2 nozzle. The slice nozzle had me printing a lot hotter than stock but the slice has been great at 205-215 for 99% of my prints.

PID tuning on the Mini is pointless unless you have a modified firmware. It won't recall the values unless you add them to your start g-code.

I tried the revo micro upgrade only to find no advantage at all and some printing problems i really think theses printers just work better when there stock there not like an ender or others that benefit from upgrades you just need to do maintence on a regular basis and they work great.

Which is odd, because this cost just as much as a Revo does. Which only gives you the added benefit of having quick nozzle changes, and easy jam clearing.

I cringed when he moved the heatblock down instead of just adjusting the PINDA sensor like the rest of us. Like bro, you cant make RU-vid videos about this stuff and show people the wrong way to do things. You didnt even show anyone any test prints after, so clearly your Mini wasnt printing right after this "upgrade". Do it right, not for me...but for the few people who have no idea what to do.
@TheEdgeofTech
@TheEdgeofTech Год назад
The video is more about installing it. It prints great right now! I did a short on it the same day after the first thing it printed! Not hiding anything here at all. I also just ran a 22-hour print that I'm about to show as well and it came out great with the exception of the very top because I was close to maxing out the Z height. Not hiding anything here. I just wanted to show how to install it. As far as moving the pinda down, I reached out to them about that because their instructions don't show to move it up. But they may need to update that. I appreciate your feedback and thank you for watching

Have to admit as someone who is not "expert" but knows enough.. this one threw me a bit. I have had issues with the PTFE tube in the heat break being too short and causing serious issues hard to track down. I would have also moved the PINDA sensor...

@SliceEngineering
@SliceEngineering Год назад
We use Boron Nitride Paste for two main reasons. The first is that it helps with heat conduction, allowing you to take full advantage of our copper hot blocks. The second is that we use it in place of a clamping cartridge slot to remove strain and pressure on the heater cartridge. Not clamping down on the heater cartridge helps extend the life of your heater in addition to the thermal benefits.
