Using a torrent or bittorrent client means that you will be downloading the Ubuntu ISO file from other users around the world who are also using a torrent client: it's called a p2p, or peer-to-peer, connection. Once the download is complete, the torrent program will begin "seeding" the Ubuntu ISO. In other words, it will make the Ubuntu ISO file available to other torrent users, and can possibly use your Internet bandwidth to upload the Ubuntu ISO file for other users.
To stop sharing the Ubuntu ISO file after the download is complete, either uninstall Deluge, or (1) Go into the Deluge program, (2) Right-click on the Ubuntu ISO file name in the main Deluge window, (3) Left-click "Remove torrent", (4) Once the new window opens up, left-click "Remove torrent" again. Deluge will no longer take up your Internet bandwidth to share the ISO file. Good to go! :)

I would also add that it is a wise precaution to defrag Windows as much as possible before its partition is shrunk, or even to reinstall Windows completely; I was given that advise when I first tried Linux and I have never had a problem in over 12 years...

Alejandro Elías Ruiz UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface), also called UEFI BIOS, is the most common form of one of two different types of motherboard firmware (the other being BIOS). Firmware is software embedded into hardware. Hardware like GPUs, hard drives, SSDs (solid state drives) and more can also come with firmware. Motherboard firmware determines everything from the boot drive to the CPU clock speed to which components are enabled. While the old legacy BIOSes couldn't handle large storage drives, UEFI can handle drives that are 2.2TB or larger. UEFI also has much richer setup menus than legacy BIOSes.

Very good video, well done. Though for new users in Ubuntu I would tend to recommend an LTS (long term support) release. Any even year, for example "16" or "18" versions released in April (.04), would be what I recommend they install. All "LTS" versions get 5 years of support whereas intermediate versions like 17.04 are only supported for 9 months. Ubuntu 17.04 as shown in this video has already reached "End of life" status now in May 2019.

Thank you for making a video on installing linux alongside W10. Most vids I have seen do it using virtualbox. You spelled out everything so easily to understand and didn't even need virtualbox. I was thinking of trying Mint but was afraid to try virtualbox and even installing mint on my W10 desktop. Now I might install it and give it a go using your method.

Yeah the recent updated versions of Ubuntu might look a little different than when this video was originally made. Sorry for the confusion. The principles should still be the same, though. What was the bitlocker message?

I have Ubuntu on one SSD and windows on another SSD and when I boot my PC up I just span F12 and it brings up a boot menu and I can choose what OS I want.

I've read that from a few people. You might need to go into your BIOS and turn off a feature called UEFI. Then reboot the Ubuntu live USB and see if the hard drive option shows up.

Need to format hard drive from windows before u install so it give that option. u can use 10000 mb when partitioning, it is just to show a next volume

Help!! In the ‘installation type’ tab, it doesn’t show “Download Ubuntu alongside Windows” It only shows ‘Erase disk and install Ubuntu’, ‘Encrypt the new Ubuntu installation for security’, ‘Use LVM with the new Ubuntu installation’ and ‘Something else’ I don’t know what to do, cause I’m not a computer expert and don’t know what to do in ‘Something else’ Can’t find my problem online! I've been getting similar comments from other users. Some newer PC's that boot in UEFI mode (a newer booting method located in the computer BIOS). After doing a little digging, it sounds like some people fixed this issue by changing a setting in Rufus. Try this: restart the process, starting from step 3 (using Rufus to create the bootable USB flash driver with Ubuntu on it). However, right after you open Rufus, on your keyboard, press ALT + F, which will switch modes and create a UEFI bootable USB flash drive (see the first answer in this link: askubuntu.com/questions/732519/option-install-alongside-windows-10-doesnt-appear-when-installing-ubuntu-14-0) Let me know if that works. Hope this helps.

I followed these exact steps and it deleted my windows partition. I made sure I pressed the "Install Ubuntu alongside Windows 10" option. Not only it deleted my Windows partition, but also failed to install Ubuntu. From what I read online you're supposed to create a new empty partition from windows before doing this.

I have a slightly different problem. I followed all the steps, partitioned my local disc C equally, (with each partition being approximately 80 GB), but my PC now boots only on Ubuntu. There's no option to boot on Windows, yet I cannot account for the 80 GB I assigned for windows. I fear I might have lost everything I had in that partition.

That's what happened to me, after the failed installation I didn't had the option to boot Windows. You need to check your C drive from Ubuntu to see if your Windows partition is still there, google it, if not, then you deleted the partition just like me. If you still have the partition you just need to repair your windows boot manager, google how to do that. Either way, these video tutorials are not very aware that you can delete your Windows partition even with dual boot option.

I'm assuming that means you have Windows 7 32-bit installed on your hard drive? If so, you will need to download the 32-bit version of Ubuntu, instead of the 64-bit mentioned in this video. If you did that, put that on the USB flash drive, and still the Ubuntu installation wizard isn't seeing it... hm... I'm not sure what to suggest.

have you installed ubuntu in your pc,did any thing gone wrong ?is it deletes all the files on your pc ? or did u backup your file to an external drive? rply me pls
