The easy beginner's guide to using the Ubuntu Linux operating system (part 1 of 6). Here I show you how to download & install Ubuntu easily onto your PC desktop or laptop!
I will admit I haven't made the switch on my main PC due to certain apps I need to use being windows-only, but I've been using Ubuntu on old PC'S or laptops for a very long time now, and it's excellent.
Thank you for this series. I’ve wanted to try Linux for years but didn’t because I couldn’t find a tutorial and having used DOS & Windows since 1985, didn’t feel comfortable just winging it😬
@@funmotivation5185 first install ubuntu through rufus in your pendrive and then back up ur data in cloud or another pendrive and then erase all the data on ur computer or laptop then instal ubuntuu
Agreed, I'd been considering dual booting for months but finally Microsoft decided it for me when my windows failed so this video tutorial was my first act of freedom
Thank you so much. This was a very detailed and step by step instructions on installing Ubuntu. I can now do it on my pc without hesitation of making a mistake😊
Info: If you want to use Ubuntu on a VM (Virtual Machine), you don't need to install rufus. Just select the .iso file and create a VM (Virtual Machine) with it.
Man, I can't thank you enough. I had been trying for the past two days to download ubuntu and I got stuck at boot manager as it won't show my pen drive but I tried every available option and finally got it. Thanks for this. Happy computing.
Hi, my boot manager or boot options did not recognize my pd, could you describe what you did exactly? I tried to reboot from security options or whatever, and it shows up if i bring up BIOS that way, but it will simply boot up windows again if i select it...
This video proved to be a boon for me as it is my first time installing a software other than windows. When I saw the interface, I was so confused as of what do, but your videos certainly helped me out with the installation. Thanks
I came here to download ubuntu but after the new windows 10 update I cant even do that because my pc acts like it has cancer, thank you windows for blocking me from using something better
1. Depends on how you do it. I'd recommend you create a drive partition, usually requires a drive wipe. You could also install and boot linux from a USB if you want. 2. I'm pretty new to linux, but I really don't it. You have libre office though, it's free, libre. It still has differences, so if you send a file, make sure to save it in pdf.
In other words, as guy above me used technical words, you can install it alongside windows and it will give you option which one to boot into each time.
Can someone help me ? I did make my stick bootable and when I insert it in another Pc it says on my display that this is made with rufus and doesn't let me install it. PLS HELP ... slide note: also sorry for my English, I'm trying my best.
I am not exactly switching from Windows to Linux as I will have a main windows laptop to work on. I am just making another Linux pc so I can make softwares for Linux.
Sir I have install unbntu in laptops but I have facing problems of When I start laptops without pendrive it open But when I plug botable pendrive it open sir please help me
Thanks a lot for the video. Windows 11 has really depreciated my laptop's performance. I thought of switching to Linux and I found your video the most helpful one! Lots of love ❤️
I am so done with windows, too much update that my potato laptop can no longer run smoothly, i always wanted to try ubuntu and so i researched about how to intall it and everything thank god you have this tutorials and beginners guide. And just so excited with this new OS. I am loving so far.
One more thing. In regards to accessing the BIOS of your computer. Pressing F8 typically accesses Windows start tools (Start in Safe Mode, Start Safe Mode with Networking, Last Known Good Configuration, etc.) In both Gigabyte and ASUS motherboards the DEL (DELETE) key is chosen to get into BIOS. Additionally. Additionally if your computer is set for fast boot, you may not have the time to press the button to get into BIOS. if you miss it, press your reset button (or hold the power button a bit to restart) and press the key rapidly that accesses your BIOS. One final thing. BE VERY CAREFUL while in BIOS. If you change the wrong item, you can create more problems. So make sure before you commit and save the change before you exit BIOS that you verify what you have done.
Great remarks. Appreciate the feedback written in a constructive, helpful way. Often I have to delete comments because they start with "what are you, stupid?" before they offer help. I'm all for constructive criticism; I block trolls with a Christ-complex thinking they can be unkind to others. Appreciate it. :)

Hello there ! Great video. One question : Can I do this if I am using an external keyboard???? The laptops keyboard doesn't work at all so I am using an external simple keyboard (windows though) ! Is it possible to install Ubuntu like that ????
If you erase the entire hard disk/SSD when you install Linux, then you'll loose everything and just have your Linux distro. If you partition your drive and install Linux alongside Windows, then you will have a dual-boot system where you can choose to either boot into Windows or the Linux system you installed. Regardless of what you do, it is prudent to have a backup of your most important data.
Thank you so much for this series and the Dual Boot guide. I do have one question if I go down the Dual Boot route do I have to reinstall programs like VS code and Node.js again to work with Ununtu since they were downloading for windows 10 before.
Okay so, I am gonna install it this or next week. I'm gonna edit this comment when I do. Good luck for me lol BROOOO IT IS SO SMOOTH IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT INSTALLING IT DO IT
Using this method, yes, it will delete all data on your hard drive. If you're interested in keeping windows, check out the video on this channel about installing Ubuntu alongside Windows (called dual-booting).
Dear Linux Experts, I have a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 1010 that came with Windows 7 Starter. It will run any lite 32-bit Linux/Ubuntu distro providing you’re not wanting any audio. The audio is choppy. This netbook appears to use the Puolsbo audio driver, which apparently is part of the GMA 500 video card. The video works fine, it’s the audio that’s the problem. Is there a Linux/Ubuntu Distro that either installs the Poulsbo driver, or has a work-around driver for that system?
When I installed LTS version I had to download a file called "SHA256SUM" with an extension. After rufus did it work I dragged the file to usb. I did after like few tries because of this file wasn't there the installation kept on crashing.

Hello. May I request for some help? After downloading ubuntu, the file is automatically saved in the download folder. However, when i click on the select on the upper right hand section, the download folder is empty. May I know how I can rectify this problem? Thanks.
is this tutorial still relevant nowadays ?, does rufus still an option or are there other good options in 2023?, haven't backed up my data yet, but I'll be migrating from windows to ubuntu in the near future. I'am done with windows, and I dont interested with ghostspecter.
My Windows 10 Home - Dell laptop comes with Device Encryption. To access the bootable USB I need to disable Secure Boot and then am able to use Ubuntu using the "Try It" option (I also have to enable Legacy Boot). Once I'm done trying Ubuntu, the issue I have is that Windows keeps asking for the Recovery Key. The only way I can access Windows is by re-enabling Secure Boot. If I do install Ubuntu / Manjaro do I need to re-enable Secure Boot to access Windows 10. If I do so, will I face any issues in accessing Ubuntu and Windows the way it's shown here. Really need some guidance on this one before I install Ubuntu or Manjaro.
Ubuntu/Linux 21.10 F***ing blows. It doesn't even have my very common laptop keyboard to choose from, which renders my computer unusable. I cannot type characters, which are absolutely necessary to type command prompts to pretty much FIX anything. The "community help" is nonexistent. Without the ability to type command prompts my laptop is now a piece of trash.
hi sir, my laptop is 10 years old, and it has become very slow when started using windows 10 on my laptop before it used work fine on windows 7.... now it has become slow my laptop has 2gb ram, dual core processor, my question is: if i install unbuntu..... does it work fast in my laptop please help
Hi My Ubuntu GUI won't go on after removing python. So I'm doing a bottable USB stick on windows, but I'm actually going to install it on a Ubuntu laptop. Should I use the Rufus or Linux option?
Thank you so very much. Just a quick question, might be banal but you all seem nice and supportive. Is the flash drive then reusable as a regular flash drive just by deleting the OS package from it?
I removed the USB after it has told me to and now when the system goes on a reset it says “Operating System not found”. I don’t know how to fix it. I’m installing Ubuntu onto an old Dell Inspiron laptop.
I had a BitLocker issue on my laptop in the last step before the password screen and when I even click the quit button... It just stayed with the interface of Linux and didn't let me remove bit locker or anything. Now I don't know what to do
Hello not sure if anyone can help with this but I installed ubuntu and everything went smoothly but then I reached the screen that said "Please remove the installation medium, then press ENTER." I did this and my pc restarted but know I can't boot onto windows or ubuntu what should I do?
