How To Install Underglow On Your Car 

Alright guys, haven’t been too active on this channel but I see a bunch of comments asking how to wire the switch and why I did such a shit job at wiring lol, so I had this set up for 2-3 years with no issues exactly how I wired it, not the best job of course but I wasn’t too experienced with or didn’t think of it at the time, feel free to cringe lol, also for the switch here is a link to how you should wire it depending on how many prongs your switch has. Underglow is not rice at all, you just have to do it right!! Been a fan of underglow (neon) light since Need for speed underground lol but going to get some for my Focus ST

People claim Underglow as "Rice", but there's nothing race inspired about it. It's simply "just for the looks". Additionally, what about 90% of people who put stickers on their car. It's not race inspired either. It's "just for the looks".

Great video guys, very informative. The one thing I would do differently is I would wire my underglow into my headlights so that I can control the switch with my headlights. It looks much cleaner that way, in my opinion.

Bought some and instantly gained 40hp. Cars around me also gained hp. Wife sat in passenger seat and got pregnant. Best mod I've ever done to my car. 10/10 would buy again.

Nice video, only thing I would sugest is to strip the wires back instead of burning them. I know its a small amount, but in general heat can damage the copper.

Had to stop watching after you used a lighter to strip back the wire and then wraped the ground wire around a bolt and but tape over it. Come on, let's be alittle professional.

The 3m tape is more expensive then the damn lights 😂😅

Looks good. We were doing this in the 80s and 90s with neon. It was expensive back then.

For people who do not want to breathe in plastic, you can buy a cable stripper for the same cost of a lighter and do this correctly. Great video.

Didn't think about using the Ethernet cable to extend the wires for my Celica, I saw those extension adapters on eBay but they are kind of pricy.

There’s actually a few laws regarding the neon lights because flashing,oscillating,moving or non-stationary lights are illegal and that only depends on what state you live in.

As an electronics engineer this hurt to see 😭. Especially the use of the ethernet cables lol

Impressive look, man! Just a couple questions: Where did you mount the switch? If you mounted it inside the vehicle (I would assume), did you use the coat hanger to fish the cables? Other than that, the lights look great on your car!

When you do oil changes taking that plastic splash gaurd off is gonna be a pain wired up. i would have stuck it a little bit more forward on the first piece

tempted to do this with my VW beetle

1: That negative mount is tacky as, should always be out of sight and not on an active bolt that’s uncovered and showing the wire. 2: Would of been 10x more cleaner to spray where your lights are being ran instead of running soapy water across yourself. 3: Should of tucked the wires up better as I know they would be lose and dangling underneath. 4: Should of also mounted the control box on the side of the better or firewall. Looks tacky sitting on top and now it will be a pain when taking your fuse box off as it’s now connected to the power box and not free. Just my personal opinions…. Apart from that I really like the setup and love how square it shines onto the ground. Looks great! Awesome video.

For all those people trying to do this, please just use wire strippers to expose wire do not use heat. You can also connect the wires via butt connectors. 100pcs Insulated Heat Shrink Butt Connectors Wire electrical 10-22 AWG Kit www.amazon.com/dp/B01C26ZBMG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_rMvMzbK0693F1 Also please ground this properly. No reason not to. Could of been a cleaner install just saying. If you going to do this work, why not do it properly. If your going to teach then do it the right way the first time

Cool idea using the Ethernet wire but you can make your life simpler using ordinary telephone wire because it is thinner and only has 4 wires so no guessing..good job!

Nice work. One thing though. You could of connected one of the side led lights to the back led light. Reminds me of doing all that back in 2012. Have to be be crafty, when doing stuff like that.

Just an idea for those looking to install LEDs... Instead of using your front lights wrapping them around the front / sides, you can double them up & put them in your grill for a really nice look. This gives a different look also, so you're not looking like everyone else. Depending on your vehicle, this will either look real nice or look really really really niiiice!! 😁 Also, wire a switch from your battery / fuse panel to your interior & then hook your LEDs into your switch. This allows you to control your lights however you like!

Your connections are a great way to start a fire 🔥 in your car. At the very least, most people doing it this way will have to repair the shitty connections eventually. And as for the double-sided tape… that’s so not the right idea. It’s going to come away with heat, weather and vibration. It’s a great way to BEGIN, but you really ought to secure the LED strips with decent straps and screws.

You did a great job on the video man, but let me ask why you are "burning the insulation" when stripping and soldering the connections would be a cleanlier and longer lasting results?

So I bought the exact same lights and never installed them. Wonder if th we still work 😅 but I don’t see a switch in mine? I was like wondering how you would turn the lights off ever if they were plugged into like your horn or something? Sorry, that might be a stupid question but I just don’t know too much about wires

For those getting underglow, make sure that they're street legal before putting them in.

Cable managment is worse than on my tractor, good grief. But nice ideas. Props to ya. Also I´d use black cable instead of the ethernewt cable.

Underglow is not rice. It doesn't have to do it racing It just looks good. it's a modification that doesn't try to make your car look quick. I'm going to start saving up to get underglow after college starts.
